Crashes here too.

Now, wasn't there something about multiple instance of SE plug-ins? Something is bubbling in my mind, but I can't remember what exactly. Something about renaming the original *.dll and making copies of it. :help:

Post

What OS are you all running that are having the crashes? I know I've done multiple instances running in Win 7 64 bit, but running my 32 bit host as administrator.

No, I have no association with the dev. I did do a bank of presets MANY years ago.

Post

Shame with the crashes, although tbh crashes are to be expected with almost every synth except the very best. A bit much this early maybe, but I suppose always the usual SynthEdit issues with multiple instances on multicores etc.

Renaming dll's is a crude fix but works, but I know several DAWs that have an option that can be set. I could say that I have had no issues at all during testing, but every system and DAW works differently.

It's one of the better free synths we haven't done yet. Good sound, good features and easy to understand. I am sure not all agree, but the same would probably be for any synth except the likes of Podolski etc.

Bumpy ride here as well. Live 9 crashed after I made 3 sounds with Feld and I can't open the project anymore.

I had this problem with OSC RMXL...

I had to
1) Rename each VST as v'ger said... renamed up to 32 versions
2) NOT use 64bit DAW
3) Jbridge might work better, but still... just use 32bit
4) Hope, pray to synth gods, write letter to the Pope asking for forgiveness for swearing at Synthedit stuff a lot - even though they can sound great.

Hi,

My Cubase also crashes, every time when I use a second instant.
So I think this is a general problem on different DAWs.

Hey Photonic, did you load the same .dll file?

In case you missed it, v'ger mentioned a work around.

Let's say you want to have 11 instances of Felspure, then you need to copy and paste 11 feldspur.dll vst files, and rename them feldspure1.dll, feldspure2.dll, ..... feldspureXYZ.dll

Then only load up a unique instance of each

Also make sure you're on 32bit, or AT LEAST using Jbridge

Another one? Grrrrr!
Can't waste time participating but want to desperately x:
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

LOL... And will try this method.

It's crashy-god damn
Yep, that's the msg that I got. I had kick/snare/hat going but hadn't saved them all and boom, crash!

How's that go, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, you won't get fooled again! Oh I don't know, it seems like a real problem though and not just a fluke. Maybe I'll try the multiple DLL thing. This sucks though because I have to use live 8, I'm not going to install another 32 bit host just for this contest.

Thank you! Now it seems to work. :D

I only have WIN XP 32.
I tried it with Feldspar-01, Feldspar-02 ... but I saw in Cubase only Feldspar and Feldspar-01. No more other versions. The same problem with Feldspar-a, Feldspar-b ...
But when I named them Felda, Feldb, Feldc ... it worked! No idea where the difference is. Now I have a test-track with four instances running.
The only problem left is, that I cannot load the sounds I had allready done. I see no way to export them as FXB, they are only stored as vstpreset. I found those files, copied them to the new Felda-directory and edited the name inside the file. No success. So I had to make them again, copy them visualy from one GUI to the other.

I trust V'ger has found a way to avoid having as many entries as last month. I just paid my license for Reaper ,installed on the Bootcamp partition of my Mac ( the OSC being my only motivation for this set up) and spent a couple of very frustrating hours reworking on the same two presets, crash after crash.
So they are ways round this problem ? It looks a bit bothersome though !!!

What's wrong with having many entries? :) The only thing I don't like about it is that ppl are allowed to upload multiple songs (IMO it should be just 1 song per user), but other than that, it's cool to see how many different ideas ppl can come up with and the ways one synth can be used for many music genres ;)

For guys who have trouble with loading multiple instances of Feldspar, open the host, go to task manager, processes tab, find your DAW,in the list, right click on it, select "Set affinity" and only check one of the CPUs there. Then, load up your synths. This should do the trick, although you lose 1/2 or 3/4 of your processing power (at least it doesn't crash though).
Note that the next time you fire up the DAW, you'll have to do the affinity thing again before loading your project. Otherwise you might end up with your DAW crashing at loading point.

Cheers.

PS: For Reaper users, you can alternatively go to Options > Preferences > General > Advanced UI/system tweaks > Restrict REAPER to specific CPUs, and write "0" in the text box. That should eliminate the boredom of going to Task Manager every time you're working at your OSC entry. Just don't forget to turn multithreading back on when you're done.

I agree. In fact, if you're thinking about uploading multiple tracks, you should think about whether voters take this into account when voting. Not whether they're supposed to, but whether they do.
