Really good idea, thank you.

One thing though - you'd like to keep reference tracks in original format.

What algorithms are used to resample and convert to 24/48?

Post

Not even a spectrum analyzer in the plugin? Referencing is pretty much about statistics and metering for me, otherwise i can just load a reference into my project as an audio track.

Good idea but i am missing some stuff. How about filters so you can compare the tracks lowend/mids etc. whilst A/Bing? It would also be nice to be able to play the tracks you are comparing to in sync to the track in your DAW. Maybe it does this allready but that would enable you to test if your track mixes nicely.

I hope they add some specialised features. If only the filter idea.

But already a nice tool i reckon.

You could put an EQ with these features(muting bands or spectrum analyzer) after this plugin.

Whatever that comes through will be analyzed.

Why make this plugin more expensive over those features?

But conversion to the projects format from reference normally being 44.1/16 I feel would be good - or you have to convert reference material on beforehand.

But even converting first is doable using the resample algorithms in daw or other audio software.

Because without these features its just a wav/mp3 player that costs 30$. The concept is great, but i find it useless and "empty" as it is now.

Simple and effective.

Of course you should express your opinion.

But I often find that people forget about using multiple plugins - so I forwarded that.

Using Reaper I tried using a second project tab for reference material - and it would have been good enough - unless there is a bug that does not renegotiate sample rate unless I open project properties and close with ok. Too many clicks and operations each time to switch source.

But then I get the original sample rate for soundcard and does not have to convert anything - like I have to with Magic AB.

I don't know what happends in Magic AB if you run 48k in project and load 44.1 reference material.

Reference tracks are automatically converted to the session's sample rate for playback - very cool!

Simple but insanely helpful tool.
A playback/time sync mode would be amazing to compare a new and old version of a track.
