One-Synth-Challenge 52: Podolski - Voting and Results

Just thinking out loud here, but when people feel that picking only 5 tracks is to hard (I can imagine), why don't we change the way we vote completely?

I would love to be able to give 1 to 5 points (stars) to every track I listen to.. listen to it.. and decide for yourself what kind of rating you want to give that track. I could end up with 3 tracks I believe are amazing and all deserve 5 points.. so I give them all 5 points.

Maybe there are 6 tracks that I think are good, but nothing special, I could give them 3 out of 5 points.

So, give ALL tracks a rating between 1 and 5 points/stars and in the end, it's very easy to see who received the most points. (and the second most, third most, etc..)

Many time in previous OSC's I wanted to give points to more than 5 tracks, but I couldn't. That problem would be gone in this scenario.

In my opinion, this would be the most fair way of voting.

For example, if there was only 8 tracks in the contest.

Track 1 **
Track 2 ****
Track 3 *
Track 4 *****
Track 5 *
Track 6 ***
Track 7 **
Track 8 *****

So we could vote for all tracks, each star means +1 point.
This way all tracks could be voted and in the last moment, it is easily to see the winners, the ones with more stars.

Well, this would be nice when scoring. This way you don't have to break your head about the best ones. You just vote, and the sheet scoring system would add all these points.

I thought that is how it currently was setup.. thus I gave 3 or 4 tracks five stars! A couple tracks 4 stars.. etc

Yep, exactly like that!

I like this idea too, because it is more meaningful and appreciable for the composer. Everybody gets his/her share accordingly, and nobody leaves with empty hand. A very good idea, indeed.

Agreed. I admit it was somewhat heartbreaking to vote just for 5 songs. I had more than 20 downloaded on my machine and I've spent days listening & debating - it was really, really difficult to narrow them down.

+1 for voting on all songs. They all deserve points. Very good idea. And while secret voting is fair, I always looked forward to the comments posted in the forum during voting phase. I prefer comments with open voting.

But must say I'm surprised that in the biggest field ever some of you now want to vote for every song? I still remember when we cut down votes to 5 how the feeling was of relief and more people seemed to vote.

Well, not exactly vote for every song... just give points 1-5 to specific songs, more than 5.
