DuX wrote:This Dune is so nicely programmable and sounding good that I almost feel guilty using it for free. Yeah, I do feel guilty. That must have been the whole purpose of these CM and BE editions, I suppose, to make you buy the full version. :D Although, I'm not really that eager to use its "onboard" FX, since I always use other, better sounding and more versatile FX, and Dune's sound is really good even without any FX, and that's a real accomplishment in my synth design book. ;)

It's a great "workhorse" synth. :tu:
That's exactly how I feel. It does not even feels crippled due the missing fx. That's a full synth with tons of possibilities. And so sweet sounding. I haven't even touched the deeper stuff though I tried some wiered routing this morning. The one shot clicks look very interesting and usable. And my CPU is so damn happy. :)

Nice little treat. I poked at the full version of Dune a while ago and while I couldn't find anything bad about it... it didn't thrill me to a point where I went reaching for my wallet. Maybe this will rope me in...

Is there no VST for the Mac version? It says in the manual there is but the installer only seems to install an AU.

Looks like that's all there is in the pkg (using Pacifist to open it)

didnt try that on my mac but sometimes you get universal libraries. in that case just change the name of file extension into vst. hopefully it will work.

Holy crap that works! Nice tip, never tried that before, wonder what else it works with?

I know there's no supposed to be an FX with this but why is it that some patches - a good example being Belo Horizonte (which is lovely) still somehow sounds drenched in reverb?

I felt exactly the same about a year or so ago when I demoed it! Exactly the same. Far from rocking any boats, or wallets, for that matter. Now that I gave it some undivided attention again I realised that I was mistaken about it the first time.

But have somebody tried to use the default GUI in their DAW to show Dune BE?

When somebody did that with Zebra CM, they suddenly got access to parameters that was not in the GUI.

I'm thinking that "hidden" parameters could show up with Dune BE too.

I can see and manipulate them but still no difference. Some of the sliders are called "Reserved". I bet those are some kind of dry/wet controllers. Anyway, the fx is also disabled in default GUI mode.

But manipulating each voice on it's own in the stereo field via matrix is still enough. Damn, this matrix feels exactly like THOR.
