Thought I'd share a work in progress I threw together today. Outside of the piano, and the bass at the end (PolyKBii) everything is from the XILS V+ (3 total patches/tracks of XILS V+).

BTW those who want to add their audio demos at the Xils Lab website could add those tho this thread i had created:

I just started a new thread at the Xils Lab forum adding the procedures and screenshots that were posted here concerning using V+ as a Vocoder in different hosts:
http://www.xils-lab.com/xo_phpBB/viewto ... =33&t=3866
I know the videos of Xavier alraedy explain this but i thought having those screenshots and procedures could be helpful too.
I'll try to do updates and/or corrections later if necessary.
Other members of the Xils Lab forum are free to add their own hints and screenshots there.

Deleting the file "Cubase Module Cache.xml" did the jobvic_france wrote:Yes, I noticed this (only happens if you had first installed version 1.0.0.. it's a "left-over"sqigls wrote:not sure if anyone's picked this up... in Cubase, in the effects plugin list there is a VST3 version called "kInstrument - XILS V+", it is the VST3 plugins cache in Cubase that causes this.)
The "sledgehammer" fix would be to trash Cubase Preferences (or, at least, the file mentioned below), but if you don't mind "rolling up your sleeves" as regards editing .xml files in there, open the file "Cubase Module Cache.xml", and delete the paragraphs that contain "V+".
When you relaunch Cubase, the VST3 versions will have the correct name.. but be aware that the FX version is now found inside the "Other" plugins category subfolder.

Well, it's hard to say because I don't have an original Synthix to compare it to, but I find all XILS synths useful and unique. But I think this is a step-up in emulations, period. They really went all-out. Check out the a/b sounds and the demo. I even like the added ambient sound of the instrument, where normally that would be a turnoff.electro wrote:Synthex was not modelled as well as the VP330. I think even Oxium may be better.

I just like the tones. Something about it, the hardware must sound pretty good!?!? I've never met anyone who owns one.electro wrote:Synthex was not modelled as well as the VP330. I think even Oxium may be better.

Synthix is still one of my favorite synths with an awesome sound and tons of options. I must confess i have used it too less for programming my own sounds than it deserves but i'll try to go back to it ASAP.donato wrote:Well, it's hard to say because I don't have an original Synthix to compare it to, but I find all XILS synths useful and unique. If you use the layer system properly you could get some quite complex sound with 4, 8 or more oscillators.
Three of my favorite features are the 6db BPF, the Chorus and the Step sequencer which could use a MIDI keyboard to record the sequencer pattern.
There are some awesome Synthix soundbanks at Xils Lab, Soundsdivine (= Simon Ball) and Le Lotus Bleu (bank done by Nori Ubukata).

Yes things can always be bettered. This said :electro wrote:Synthex was not modelled as well as the VP330. I think even Oxium may be better.
When we had side to side a Synthex and the Synthix in a studio with Paul Wiffen ( Original sound designer for the Synthex library, and also THE man who introduced the Synthex to JMJ or Stevie Wonder ) some Synthix patches were undistinguishable from the real Synthex. Some were. Synthix is not perfect I totally agree, yet it might be the closest Synthex emulation in the soft synth department.
But thats not the whole thing, in numerous domains Synthix is much more advanced than the Synthex : Multitimbral 8 layers, Guitar mode, some never seen controlers and modulators, polyphonic sequencer, additional effects, numerous Play modes, etc etc. All this resulting in some patches that I dont think can be replicated on any synthesizer. And that's imho another point, Synthix is also a synth of its own, with a unique flavor, unique possibilities and the Xils organic sound.
As for Oxium, I dont understand ? "Better" as a Synthex emulation ? Better as "an analog" synthesizer ( dont forget Synthix emulates DCOs, and not VCOs )
Also I don't get the word "even" : Oxium is a free analog design, implementing a lot of ideas we wanted to experiment in sound, UI design, exclusive powerfull modulators. Then Oxium is not a "second class synth" compared to other Xils synths ! The price was lower because we did not have on it all the modelling and circuitry replica work that are inherently part of any emulation project, and take a lot of time. Now, the IB Jupiter 8 soundbank project, where I recreated in Oxium the Jupiter 8 factory lib patches, tends to show that Oxium has a very authentic, warm and rich analog sound. But you can also make some otherwordly patches in it, due to the double filter sophisticated structure, and the incredible modulations. Here again some patches that the Synthix, the Jupiter 8, or any other VA synthesizer can't do. Btw Oxium cant replicate the Synthix patches of course.
Well, what can I say ? Oxium and the Synthix are two good exemples imho of the "Analog and beyond" road taken by Xils-lab. More and more people seem to find this road and the Xils sound appealing, and this is very encouraging for us.
You're right, things are not perfect, they never are, and ..... never will be. But we make efforts to make them "as good as possible", and according to our global sound philosphy.

It is very, very easy to do wonderful delay loops on it - something that I was far too lazy to work out how to do with other software previously.
As to the synths, I've bought Oxium, Synthix, Xils3 and XILS V+.
The last two are definitely in a class of their own, whilst Oxium is an extremely easy and modern synth to use.
I like Synthix a lot, but I accept the criticism of it not being extremely Synthex like. However, it is a wonderful sounding soft synth in its own right and its sequencer is brilliant (also, tbh, I have the superb UVI Workstation 'Vintage Synths' and a couple of Kontakt libraries with great Synthex samples on them, so combining these with Synthix gives me many different possibilites of emulating the great Italian synth).
I digress...
Xils V+ is a brilliant vocoder and synth and I look forward to Xils Labs' next software offering.
Cheers.

Xils should reboot the Synthex's hardsync and BBD Ensemble modelling then call it a Synthix 2.0 like Arturia did with their V2 updates. Hardsync shortcomings can be easily heard in the soundexamples on the site.
