am I the only person on the internet who doesn't like the new Daft Punk stuff?

As a toned down version of your point, I don't really like the album, as I said, I won't buy it. I would like it to be influential, however, and this is largely as a response to Skrillex et al. That said, I'm not sure that I see it happening. It doesn't seem that it's quite strong enough to have a lasting effect. Will people be wanting more EDM that is groovy and features disco musicians? I find that unlikely.

Well pitchfork apparently gave it a 8.8/10 for similar reasons.
"So RAM is best appreciated as a counter to these trends." http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/180 ... -memories/

They even said 4 of the songs weren't good. That is 30% of the tracks! What load of crap. I wonder if their exclusive cover story was granted in exchange for a (clearly) undeserved rating?
Interesting review.

A bit late to the party...

listened the new album last week or so...

A bit disappointing and a bit more after the expectation their producer collab mini-documentary videos had created.

A good thing tho, re-listened all (I think) their previous albums and remembered some of their great tracks and the reason I got into Daft Punk's music some good years ago.

The new album.. sure it sound nice and it's "pretty".. some few tracks are quite cool IMHO... but I think it lacks that magical something that makes Daft Punk come alive.
......
I recommend:

Human After All
The Prime Time of Your Life
Robot Rock

Daftendirekt
Revolution 909
Da Funk
Fresh
Teachers

Almost all track within their Discovery album too!

Never been a big DP fan, but I finally got around to checking out the album and now I see for myself what all the 'meh' is about. Neat idea, but a cheesy execution. And, for some reason, I have this strange urge to smash robots over the head with a vocoder. :borg:

Forgettable. I guess that;s where the album title stems from primarily, as opposed to suggesting a harking back to a golden age of times past gone by.

I do like that they're getting back to 'real' instruments, and that funk disco thing etc. But Pharrel and the hype, and knowing what they've produced in the past? - A definite massing whopping MEH indeed.

You are not alone my friend. You are not alone. Daft haters UNITE!

Its not that I dont like daft punk cos I do. Ok , I'll expand on that.......

A)"da funk" is the best track they ever did , and they've never bettered it
B) The Tron soundtrack is brilliant

However , after an 8 year hiatus , I was expecting something sublime , transcendant even , but they return with a disco rehash with nile rogers in tow. Whats next ? A shakatak remix with pans people in the video ?

Unfortunately with these big artists , they have their fanbois who would buy "3 blind mice" if any of these acts released it , instead of saying " actually , you were gone for 8 years. ........I expected something better than disco "
