Gotta say a couple spots in that lastest video... :o :-o :o

Very impressive, although on the last example (sweeps) HW seemed a little clearer, which is interesting as spectrum analyzer suggested otherwise. Maybe noise takes a little of the edge away?

wow. that's really impressive. looking forward to it!

I agree with you on that. It's aliasing, the hardware doesn't alias at all which is why it sounds clearer when the cutoff frequency is high, the noise also masks some of the sound. I had to run The Drop at x4 oversampling since that is all my computer could handle for realtime, it really needs x8 oversampling to sound completely clean at high frequencies, but it wasn't possible for me to do an offline render for the extra quality.

Interesting, impressive and thanks for sharing Andy.

About the noise.
What the video suggests, even without listening, is that the hardware has some stuff going on in the upper part of the frequency spectrum as meloco_go said earlier.
I am just curious, why is that and where does it come from?

The cascade sh low pass is all done, it modulates smoothly and handles huge input gracefully. The high pass is sounding great, it's really odd that this structure doesn't cut as much of the low frequency content as the MS2 4 pole high pass, but it's doing the same thing with the circuit so I'm not too worried. Their is a problem with audio rate modulation causing crackles which is a problem, so I'm going back over all the maths today and trying a few different solving paths to see if that helps.

I like it when you say things Andy.

To state the obvious again, I'm very excited about the new algorithms. Are you REALLY doing the OSCar filter too, or are you just throwing that into the conversation to make people salivate further?

Hope all is well, thank you for keeping in touch Andy, much appreciated!

I'd love to try it even with frequencies fixed!

I'm eager to see the other filter models be released too, but I try not to be impatient, because I know this is the kind of cutting-edge work that is going to advance analog simulation up the next rung of the ladder. The big names like Roland, Korg, Access, etc. aren't going to do it - they're too busy repackaging previous tech and looking for ways to keep capitalizing on it to invest the R&D time in painstakingly tweaking a single filter model for months to get it just right. Now if only Andy could clone himself and put each of his multiples to work on modeling one of the filters... :D

Normally clones get agressive, so if the filters also get some more grit (not that they need it!) as an extra bonus ... ;-)

TheoM wrote:Having issues here. I don't know what is going on, but basically haven't been able to use the drop for some weeks. Whenever i instantiate it in logic, even though the filters are all open etc, i hear only silence, It cuts the sound of the channel out. I play with ever knob and nothing.

I removed it and all preferences and reinstalled and all was fine for a while.. i think it has something to do with save as default.. cause after i chose my OS settings again and saved as default it's been doing it again :(

Any ideas? anyone else?
Hi Theo,

I would love to track down and fix this problem. Can you please email me directly with a bug report? I currently can't reproduce the issue which makes fixing it very difficult. www.cytomic.com/contact

Can concur - was just hit with this problem in Logic as well. What's weird as it's the same demo I used last week w/ no problem. It's not consistent either: if I nuke an instance and create a new one, it works.

Loving the sounds of this filter. Can this be used as an autowah effect with live guitar/bass? Does it have an envelope follower?
