It's a great "workhorse" synth.
That's exactly how I feel. It does not even feels crippled due the missing fx. That's a full synth with tons of possibilities. And so sweet sounding. I haven't even touched the deeper stuff though I tried some wiered routing this morning. The one shot clicks look very interesting and usable. And my CPU is so damn happy.

I couldn't have said it better. The Dune BE is simply great, and the modulation matrix is (in most cases) sufficient for some more exotic sound experiments. I don't miss any onboard FX because I have (more than) enough other FX plugins, too...

The only thing that I miss is some more waveforms or being able to load your own wave forms -- but therefore I have enough other synths...

Maybe you want Curve 2 BE version?

I downloaded that for free after requesting a registration at Beat's [Link removed: KVR has been informed that serial numbers are intended to be reserved for BEAT readers and are not supposed to be shared like this] earlier today

I have a couple of paid synths, but Dune BE is always the first i'm reaching to though, and i use it in *every* project without exception. The only reason i will eventually buy the full version is to support the authors of this awesome synth - functionality-wise, i don't feel i'm using a light version in any way....but the guilt....ohhhh the guilt

I hope not to offend anyone with my comment (specially the developers), but am I the only one who actually prefers the limited BM versions than the full versions?

I mean, I've never liked XILS 3 because of all the extra stuff that just turn this into an over-complicated synth, but the free limited version is just what I was looking for: A VCS3 emulation without useless stuff; I actually wouldn't mind paying the full price for this synth.

Same with Dune BM, I don't really need the extra stuff, this is just enough.

I feel pretty much like that, too, Le Daniele and ferez21. I feel like Dune has just the right amount of features not to be overcomplicated. Kinda like simple enough, but also complicated enough

, so I am able to do everything that springs to my mind. Very cleverly constructed synth, and of course, sounding quite good. I really like the choice of filters, and they sound good. Every synth should have a choice of filters like this. [or like ShortCircuit]

I mean there should be at least 2 [serial/parallel] "normal" low pass resonant 2-4 pole filters, low pass 2-4 pole ladder filter, same high pass and band pass filters, and a state variable filter, all with an option for saturation/overdrive/distortion types, and the amount of it. Perfetto. Yes, Dune doesn't have all I said, but it's enough anyway.

This can give you lots of "colours" to choose from in a simple form. Plus some different waveforms, not just boring saw/pulse/sine/noise combo. Plus the modulation matrix is so quick to work with and useful. This synth is just so neat.

Developers, take notes.

I think of Dune BE as an extended demo. When I fall in love with it, I'll buy it at the next sale or in the Marketplace.

Same thing with Curve 2 CM. I bought VolumeShaper last night - my first Cableguys purchase - because they were top of mind for me because of their recent CM offerings, and it fit the need I had.

Wonderful offers both. I look forward to supporting both Synapse and Cableguys in the future due to these generous offers.

I especially appreciate extended demos because I am so easily distracted that I will start a demo, leave it due to distraction, and then not pick it back up for months.

I had to abandon my Equilibrium demo because its really too much EQ for a beginner like me, both in feature set and in cost. I will come back to it when the time is right. Pro-Q is plenty for me for now.

Well, I think that was exactly their idea. When does DUNE have been released? 4 years ago? And they are already working on DUNE2 (which should have some similarities to ANTIDOTE regarding to their oscillator technology). And Antidote sounds so..UUUUUUHHHH!!! Sweet is not sweet enough.

So waiting for DUNE2 instead of buying V1 would not be a bad idea.

I don't use cracked software anymore for more then 10 years now (completely) and I am so glad that in my financial situation there is more than enough free and "crippled" stuff around at the moment so I can do what I like: produce music and design sounds without feeling bad or becoming a criminal.

I got a few full or nearly full versions the last 12 months via facebook and competitions (mostly older stuff but I don't care). That's pretty cool because I could try them all in full effect and with no expiration. Some of them did not fit my workflow, others blew me completely away and forced me to take a closer look at the company which built the synth or effect. And those will be the companies that will get my money first when I am in a situation where I can afford paid software.

Damn, Dune 2 with Antidote's oscillator technique...yummi!!! So excited about this.

I second that! Not only are these some very nice synths, but the prices are reasonable, and you really get to see if they'll work for you before you invest.

Curve CM is not the same as the full version of Curve, and if Dune BE and Dune CM are similar to what they did with Curve CM and Curve BE (which I couldn't find on Beat's Website), then you'd probably rather have Curve BE. Then again, since the great folks at Cable Guys allow you to use the demo version indefinitely and with very few restrictions, you might just want to get the full version of Curve 2. I have Curve, Curve CM and Curve 2 demo, and I use the demo of Curve 2 most of the three. I use Dune more though. It just has more "inspirational" sounds right out of the box (as it were).

But does the demo allow for online preset sharing? One of the cool things with Curve 2 BE and Curve 2 CM is that by syncing it online, you get access to a lot more patches

how did you download it you can get a serial, but no download link and it's not at beatdrive.de?

If you create a free account with Cable Guys, you can download the on-line presets (as of right now, my demo version is showing some 3,550+ presets when I sync with the server). You can't store your own with the demo, though, so you can't really share your own presets.

Other than that, there's no time limit, though you can only use one instance of the demo at a time.

Yes, that worked for me, too. Thanks for the tip!

Beat.de has some interesting-looking articles. Can't really tell without having Google translate them. (The magazine covers are in English, yet the associated Websites are in German.) Google's Chrome browser translates Websites on-the-fly, but at some point, it may just be easier for me to actually learn German!
