This is driving me nuts because it sounds familiar but I can't place it. I'm also playing a little game with myself and seeing if my guess is right---I think it's Schubert but I'll be happy if that is just in the right era.

It starts at the 4 minute mark---and yes this is Mr. Rogers and yes I am weird for watching Mr. Rogers on YouTube. :D

Not a piano piece. Grieg's Holberg Suite

As I use Shazam to identify it it comes up with:

Scarlatti: Keyboard Sonata in B Minor, K.173/L447/P.51: Allegro by Hae Won Chang.
Win8.1 64x/Live 9/Steinberg UR44/Roland HP 235/Edirol PCR-800/Eastman AC222/Washburn D12/Ch. Les Paul/Behringer BCF2000 & BCR2000/Korg Nanopad 2/Focusrite VRM Box/AT 2020/2xB5/E825s/Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250/Tannoy 502

Wow, two very different answers. Interesting.

Melody is very similar in parts to the Grieg but the symphonic piece ends differently and isn't exactly the same in other areas. If it's the Grieg piece it must have been interpreted.

A couple of observations (admittedly not too helpful and perhaps a bit biased with regards to the dancing profession):

1. To my ears this sounds much closer to music from the Grieg era than Scarlatti's.

2. Choreographers can sometimes do all sorts of things with/to music, especially that which is in the public domain. And maybe it wasn't the choreographer but the "composer" working with him or her that did the adaptation.

You know, given how much Public Television is IMO really aiming to educate folks, it still surprises one how often music that is used is not properly identified. Just another of one's pet peeves, I know...:hihi:
