And this is a very good example:mikedw wrote:To my ears it sounds bad sounds like a hole in all sounds. Think there are several vst synth that sounds better but maybe not as many sounds.
Nexus has of course it's own synthesis engine too, but most of the sounds are samples...
Samples of what??? Very easy to answer: Samples of well known Hard- and Software...
How can they sound worse than the sources???
It is possible, that you don't like how they are processed/layered/whatever the kind of preset they offer, but the overall sound quality is of course as good as all of their well known sources... btw: the onboard FX are imho miles ahead of those i.e. of Sylenth and many other... I mean look at the reverb: afaik it's basically Arts Acoustic Reverb (of course with less parameters, but the algo's) a reverb, which costs €189,- on it's own... not bad for an onboard fx

I think Nexus2 is a good sounding workhorse with a decent fx section. I love the trancegate and arp as well. If this plugin is a worse thing, then why the hell are so many expansions out there? Because it is unsuccessful???
If you look to the virus hardware , it has a cool sound as well as a decent fx section.
The diffence for me between of the two synth is, that i can work with nexus2 in lightspeed compared to virus. in the role as a producer it is very very important to have a quick access to good (or very good) soundsources WITHOUT fiddling it until it sounds good. So thats the best point for me in Nexus2.
And if you doubt the quality, everyone should have a closer look to the option "export with high quality" to avoid aliasing artefacts.
