with one big exception!
the PWM takes a whooping 36-37%, seems to go down with the number of selected bits (16% @ 4bits) but still...
Is there something probably left to optimize or the algo is really that CPU heavy?
Unless I reduce the over/down sampling quality which will add "unwanted" grit :

the PWM encoding runs a 1bit stream potentially in the multi-MHz range, and I must deal with proper up/downsampling...

Its unique sounding but that comes with a cost.
I understand, the PWM is quite something, within my favorites atm! :)
Will have to find a way to make the best use of it vs CPU, like... less bits, high input level. :hihi:

Thanks for considering my suggestions! ..although now that you mentioned the PWM uses oversampling and I noticed the algo list that seems "under-construction",

would it make sense to add a "PWM(eco)" mode which makes the best compromise between quality and CPU usage? ... or would it be a better idea to implement a "HI-Quality" or oversampling switch under the hood (within the "live mode" button area)

Post

David,
Yeah, about the algo list I've been meaning to ask since I saw it kinda "opened"

Are you planning to add more to the list, maybe unique blends/variations of your own?

seeing as how i still have chipsounds which i bought in last sale. what does this plugin do? is it for turning your pc into like a old skool computer? does it work on the master bus best? whats the purpose?

Im guessing its for advanced bitcrushing, speaker simulation and noise.

Yeah, I could make the 3 layers of sample rate conversion quality user configurable. But note each setting would change the latency values.

There are many many more I could add, and also I could add parameters on existing ones as well. The reaction so far is great! This is thus only the beginning.

latency is a scary word :D but no big problem, especially if the plug reports the exact latency to the host.

adding extra parameters sounds very interesting! :)
Can't wait to see how this plug will evolve, a great start if you ask me, good luck! :tu:

-gold mine for drum loops and percussion buses and not only.
-great "gluing" effect
-"pro" digital bit/sample rate reduction plug.

I like bitcrushers - I recently bought an OTO Buisquit. So, I didn't really think I'd really need anything else tbh...

But I did quite like the sound of this plugin from the few vids I saw. So I checked the demo. Bought it after about 30 seconds of messing with it!!

I take my hat off to the devs. It's simply fantastic...:) It's absolutely vicious on drums! And the sheer range of sounds can do is awesome.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

What I like about this is it fills a niche that I haven't really seen before. Maybe Speakerphone? Dunno, have never used it. But it's a great departure from standard distortion plugs.

There's a demo?

err... Yup. It cuts out after five minutes or something like that...

There is no official demo yet.

When you order the product and install the plugin , it will say its in "demo" mode, until you drag a key, but it doesn't make the shipping installer a "demo ready" version, as we would like to add the most requested features before:

-Latency reporting fixes,
-Mono mode on AU/RTAS
-Dry/wet in the Post Processing stage
-Varispeed on background noise

I hope you understand.

No need to demo imho, it's absolutely awesome, just watch the youtube video ;) This plugin is gorgeous, especially if you grew up in the 80s/90s :)

forgive me for my ignorance but, yes, i know its for advanced bitcrushing, speaker simulation and noise. thats obvious. but say, make a song with chipsounds, does this essentially make the song sound retro? is it for track or master? for example, say you had a c64, and you played a game on it. theres no mistake, your hearing a c64. now, say you use chipsounds to make a song on a modern pc, then you add chipcrusher to master channel, are you hearing a song through a modern pc with a bitcrusher, or are you hearing a modern song that is indistinguishable from a c64 song/speaker?
