I actually like Spire better than Dune or Diversion. Spire is a little tighter and punchier to my ears, especially compared to Diversion.

Like Spire Diversion got envelopes with adjustable curve and slope, same for e.g. ElectraX and Synthmaster.

Anyway i got really many synths and try to use each of them for what they suit best. I gave up searching a synth that could do everything but ElectraX and Synthmaster are maybe the most versatile ones i got.

IMO based on the waveform shaping capabilities Spire should be more suitable for "digital" or complex sounds. It's missing some "interaction" of the 4 OSCs like e.g. Sync, Ringmod or FM. FM is limited to the two waveforms in each oscillator and additional FM between two or more of the 4 OSCs would a nice addition.
Loading custom single cycle waveforms would be a nice feature too.

I just gave Spire another try. This time starting from the Init preset i tried do do a simple 1 Osc Bass sound using the "Acido" filter. Without using the built-in EQ (and/or an external one) the basic sound seems to be quite "weak" which means it lacks in the low end.

The resonant sweeps which are possible with the Acido filter are nice but do not really knock me off my feet. The Acid LP filter in Diversion could really "scream", especially with adding the filter drive.
Using the Drive in the "SHP" FX of Spire could improve the sound. Anyway the Drive IMO does not sound as pleasing as the filter drive in e.g. Diversion.

Largo has it already.
I don't know if I really want to see this synth transformed into a feature monster. It has already nice features in it. But I would like to see a global unison with spread as well (just like Halion 4 Va has - unison per osc and the global unison).

Also, there is too intensive attack click in AMP envelope, would be nice to have a choice (sort of additional button) to turn it off.

AND, would be great to see more contributions from the developer(responses) to this thread.

Btw, what means the button ANA?

Spire is young.

Fluffy features like Steppers and Arps could and should have really waited.
Optimize first, luxuries later.

There's sometimes an audible click sound on the release depending in vol env and filter env settings. Relatively noticeable, but easy to avoid by making the vol env and filter env's attack and release not 0, but 11 or more (11 being the first non-fine increment). Really not a biggy in my book (but if it could be fixed, that'd be good). Hardly the end of the world though (and yes, those plates sound really nice).
Thanks for the explanation. This is pretty normal behaviour to be totally honest. All my synths click a little on super fast attacks and releases (just tested here).

This is just down to the fact that the developers have allowed for super fast attack and release times. It's similar to DMGAudio Compassion's release time. If you set it very low, the plugin distorts really hard. But there might be someone out there who wants that to occur.

I personally would use the click as an attack trgger for certain sounds. To ensure the click is the same on each note hit, simply set the phase to always start the same phase. This is especially useful when using a sine wave as your oscillator or similar and want a little click on each note. The Virus TI has a dedicated knob for amount of click.

Here's an example (ArtsAcoustic Reverb used for verb) :)

All that probably needs to be done is adjusting the INIT preset a bit. I found than a value of 2 or more for the attack and release eliminate the click anyway.

Here's the preset by the way, with Spire's reverb :)

Setting the attack to anything other than 0 doesn't sound as good (give it a try!). Therefore this clicky ability is something that could benefit many presets of a similar style.

It's something I use all the time on my Virus TI.

Don't worry Theo, I will make a bank certainly ! ^^
Look forward to it mate.
Thanks.
Do you have any other banks to other synths so I can listen to your current work?
Not yet ^^ haha :D

Just came back into programming synths... During two years I randomized all my presets, then I had short period of a few months where I finally tried someone else (or factory) presets, a thing I never did before :D

For a time I was thinking I was rusty, because nothing good came out, seemed I lost all my mojo from when I was young and tweaking softsynths easily, same as breathing.

But theses few last months it came back, and I'm pretty happy already with my presets for Feldspar for KVR OSC 53. Now maybe I'm just in ecstasy in front of my own work I don't know yet ^^

Since I have no work because of health I can focus 100% on music, and I thought selling a few banks wouldn't hurt.

Since Spire is so new, I guess if I do a bank there will be someone interested maybe. But for now I have only 4 presets done, and I listen to them this afternoon and one of them was really meh... :D

I don't really have other banks because all my work since two years, I almost always used different synths for each of my (unfinished) tracks, so I really have 1 or 2 presets for any synth :D

Anyway if I think my presets are not so good for me to sell them after I've made a fair amount of them, maybe I could just share them for free.

I can send u a PM with one of my track with some homemade presets for Harmor if u are interested (but Harmor is a completely different beast, so it may not inform you about my skills with VAs).

I'm not in any way serious about music then obviously. There you go, u win. I know the quality of my tracks and don't need to prove them to you.
never asked you too
TheoM wrote: Anyway I might have been incorrect.. You are saying if the click problem is fixed you ARE indeed a potential customer of this one?
im always a potential customer, with the exception of certain security measures some companies feel the need to take.

like i said, its a decent enough synth, but it cant cut it with what is already around today (and has been around for a few years or more) YMMV, but thats not going to change my opinion.

hopefully the next product will be something more interesting. :)

Interesting stuff... but where is the relation to this thread? And why don't you do this by sending a pm. You know, i don't care one bit... and 99% of other people won't do either i guess.

cool, its the only bit i read....

my posts are pretty much on topic, they concern the synth

for the record: i like the synth

GUI is great, nice and clear, well laid out

Soundwise its pretty good

I really like the visual updates when morphing the OSC waveforms, nice touch

its not a synth i wont buy tho, becuase i have a ton that already overlap its features (or at least features i will use)

the envelope 'problem' (inverted beacuse some dont see it as a probelm) is important to ME

for the record: i dont use Diva, and wont until it has osc phase sync.

just my opinions...for some reason if you dont poor love onto something its called trolling...whatever, im just giving my thoughts on it. I dont have to like it, you dont have to like me...i doubt anyone will lose sleep over either.

So, as i already stated, looking forward to either Spire V2, or their next project.

ciao
