well, well, speaking of metal.......just checked out emil-a-man's little jingle. very nice. crazy dynamics with a little piano here and little fat-ass guitar there drums were a bit muddy, but loved the double bass. and turn that bass guitar up!! i heard a bit of the strings slapping the frets, but wanted to hear that more. vocals sounded like something, but can't place them - i liked them though, especially near the end. like to hear some complete songs.

It sounds pretty darn good although maybe slightly too much on top.

Huge potential in this track, but I can imagine quite hard to work on (as you said in the thread; you were sick of it, we could have it).

Mainly it was frustration with my brass chops in getting a take I was happy with: I spent so much energy on that that I had no patience left to tweak the other parts of the song!

More brass please; this sounded tops.

I'm trying to stick with it these days. The trouble with brass is that I gotta keep up with it or my lips turn to mush... but I have so many other instruments to keep up with, too! Haven't touched my basses in a long time, either, because my callouses went away (ended up with blisters when I did that thing for the Multree/Contageous project last year )

I think it would give birth to a rather surprising new style

44 tracks! Bloody hell...here goes...continuation of some thoughts on the entries...

emil-a-man - The music suggested and deserved lyrics a lot more shouty.
Like the tinkly piano theme and the development. Don't like the gallopy drum fills,
but great guitar in the second half. Eh - fade out seemed a little sudden!

Torpedo (Jens) - I enjoyed the voice, but the mixc made it sound a little distant from the backing a little - karaoke-style, if you will.
The backing is cool, but because of the mix, seems a little too incidental.

Barnadine - Yodelling and banjoes ? WTF!?? Absolutely MAD start and ending to the track too hehehehe
Seems a little more like an idea than a finished track, but truckloads of kudos for an original track, and goddam it if I didn't find myself
singing this at work today . hehehe yodelay-a-hoo. Bastard!

codacoda - I kept waiting for this to launch into something else - some vox could have sent
this skyward!! As music, it doesn't really touch me enough, well done though it is.
Mix also seemed a little muddy. Don't hold back! Let fly!

freeztar - Not really enough going on for me to really get into this, freeztar.
Some more variation all round wouldn't go amiss!

What an awful tune -I f**king love it!

Markleford - first up, wicked percussion. Must have taken a while. Would have liked a solo on that bass for a nice break-up.
Just played this REALLY f**king LOUD. It REALLY works like that. Fab brass.

scuzzphut - First minute sounds almost a little Sigur Ros?? Levels maxing out a little here.
Good track.

7-zark-7 - Would have liked some more manipulation of the samples,lunacy on their levels and panning etc. Enjoyed the change at 0:41 and
would have liked some more of the same - even a breakdown with a big change
like the one promised at 1:40 but...argh! It fades

garret - You've got one of those voices which cuts through the backing so cleanly and well.
Nice vocal harmonies too. lush.

liqih - always look forward to your totally original entries (er..that's a compliment! heheh) Love the burbly backing.
Wasn't really sure what effect you wanted here. There are suggestions of tension (?), but they're kind of offset by the accordion pulses from 0:38
and the next 8 pedestrian notes that follow until the 1 minute mark.

armadillo - nice arrival! Any relation to Kriminal? Would have liked alittle more top-end tomfoolery,
but this is cool.
Nice spread of sounds - had me nodding in me chair

Sepheritoh - sometimes, I wish you'd fx that guitar the hell outta there, sepheritoh. This track is let down by the cleanliness of your axe!
That change at 0:53 could've/should've been wild.
Ditto the one at about 1:25. Would love to hear you wig out somedayin these comps, man. You know you can.

I'm not too familiar with Sigur Ros - I've heard a few tracks and liked them , I must admit.

I remember being deeply moved by the video for one of their songs that featured a group of downs-syndrome kids dressed as angels having a whale of a time running around a field. The mix of the haunting music and the images was just...... in a *good* way. Beautiful.

Tancos - lush flute. Gave it away a little with the high notes at 0:43 - sounds a little too keyboardy,
if you get my meaning .
Enjoyed the ambient swishiness.

Glooper - yeh, nicely played. Great groove. The vox are good, man! A bit too hard in the mix, for
my liking, but good.

pheeleep - great track. Really well mixed - the way those strings slide in like the way they do first at
0:09 sends a shiver up my spine.

sason - error syncing to mpeg

kajiki - I enjoyed this piece. MAybe a little let-down in conception. I thought it was
gonna burst out of muffled mode with heart-wrenching
strings to boot- damn!

Wopelka - that backing synth sound from 0:48 began to grate toward the end.
I relly enjoyed the progression that began at
1:35 -why so late?

Earthtones - the synth sounds are a little 80's tastic. Vox reminds me someone...argh!. Nice attempt at the vox.

Freeztar: Cool mando-mixing! The tupac thing works good in this mix, but it's been done before (by tupac). Nonetheless, this song was my favorite out of the first listening session, props!

Andreas Erhardt – I think this is one of your better offerings to the monthly challenges. The various sounds going on feel very natural and convincing. My only nit would be how you placed them within the stereo field, the harp being too much on the right only and the leading violins too much on the left. But like said your this is the best I have heard from you
