Well, I reacted because I wasn't thinking that your statements were refering to a general case, I was thinking that you were taking a part of the allready ongoing discution, that's it.
I was only looking at discution, exposing points of view, etc etc, and your first post seemed (to me) directed at me because at the moment I was the only one talking about why it could be seen negatively to use presets in one's mind, so yeah, I took it personnaly. And if you read it the way I did, taking it wrong is quite normal I'd say. My bad to take it bad, your bad to jump in and taking part without reading. No offense, none taken, and that's it! To me at least.

You obviously did not read the thread from the start. Too bad. You would have understood maybe.tanabarbier wrote:Well, I reacted because I wasn't thinking that your statements were refering to a general case, I was thinking that you were taking a part of the allready ongoing discution, that's it.

Well maybe but not by me, and I am not looking at generalizing anything, and so deciding for me to put me in the bashing category because you feel it fits is violent in its way.
edit: I read the whole thread, and even though I agree that I don't like to use presets, as I said before I don't look down on those that do. Each his own. My music is more based on sound that melody, so I'm more inclined to think the way I do about presets. My music, my life, period.

You read the whole thread and decided the insults started with 1-2-many? Are you kidding? The insults and bashing started with Olikana.tanabarbier wrote:Well maybe but not by me, and I am not looking at generalizing anything, and so deciding for me to put me in the bashing category because you feel it fits is violent in its way.

And who the hell put you in the bashing category besides yourself? I don't think anyone thought you were bashing as you stated you didn't care if others used presets. 1-2-Many already said his post wasn't directed at you so I don't know what you're on about here besides a misunderstanding and thinking mistakenly it was about you.

I didn't think you were bashing, I thought you stated your opinion and your opinion was you don't really use them but not care if others do, which is completely reasonable. I would think that is what others thought too.

All I wanted to say was that I use synthesizers to make sounds that conventional "analog" instruments (pianos, guitars, trumpets, violins etc.) CAN NOT create (therefore "never heard before")...there wasn't any elitism or whatever... But it's always interesting what people interpret even if it's meant completely different...

FTR - I used presets out of the box, I tweak other's presets and I make my own presets....none of which is any better than the other...all of which are best for the current track... and none of which has made me any more "pro".

Sorry to yank this gem from the abyss but it made me laugh.I would say that if you want to call yourself a talented or gifted musician, then you better make your own sounds.
So Hans Zimmer is a no talent hack because he hired Howard Scarr to design presets for his productions?

Well, someone could argue that, I suppose, but why would they?
Unless the person wants to start the bashing process all over again....
