I can load free instruments and effects fine in the player (though they do time out after 30 minutes)...carrieres wrote:no, you need the full version of reaktor to use the free instruments and FX

There's a generic NI sound design style you often hear in their synth product presets - they tend towards the "edgy", crackling and roaring sounds, the kind of thing that accompanies abstract 3D animation, but the tools themselves have far broader capabilities.revo11 wrote:However, I'm always disappointed by the quality of NI sounds in general.

Some more nice free ensembles here: http://www.radiansoundlab.com/ You have pay with a tweet or facebook like, seems fair! Decent sounding bass synths from brief play though a lot of wobble bass presets.

But that's the POINT of Monark. It's a 1:1 copy of the reference Mini they had. And it's spot on - if I might add, best feedback, overload and filter saturation behaviour EVER. Beats even Diva in that regard, IMO.BBFG# wrote:I disagree, maybe Razor a little bit, although it still sounds like others to me. Monark? Nothing is distinctive in that one. It doesn't even try to be anything but a copy of the original.EvilDragon wrote:Monark and Razor, both done in Reaktor, both have their own distinctive "character".BBFG# wrote:I've yet to hear anything that sets it apart from the rest.

Have you contemplated that 80 percent of the soft synth market is emulations, seems that is what users wantBBFG# wrote:Yeah, I understand that's the point of Monark, but that doesn't make it distinctive. And btw, I'm not really impressed with DIVA either.
And I know it's all subjective, what 'grabs' one person leaves another feeling unimpressed. I used to own a model D and I loved it. I just don't see the need for trying to recapture it.
Take into account also that reaktor functions as a multi fx unit, you get a lot of bang for your buck.

That's EXACTLY what makes it distinctive.BBFG# wrote:Yeah, I understand that's the point of Monark, but that doesn't make it distinctive.

well the point addressed was 'reaktor has a sound, no, a character'. it doesn't, and the fact of this particular Reaktor build demonstrates that.EvilDragon wrote:That's EXACTLY what makes it distinctive.BBFG# wrote:Yeah, I understand that's the point of Monark, but that doesn't make it distinctive.
Reaktor is a go to for me typically. I get gigantic fat dense bombastic sounds, or biting highs, or a nice e piano. there is no limitation through its components, that's going to prove absurd if you look at it. the limitations are going to lie with the person using it, frankly.
