Sorry, but loading the bank crashes Energy XT, and in Sonar I get an error msg saying it is not a valid preset file.

What version of Charlatan are you using? This bank was entirely made on v1.4.1.

Using savihost to load Charlatan, I got no problem loading the fxb files

I've got no problems in FL Studio 11.

Thanks Ghostwave, I've been waiting (impatiently) for this! 8)

You're totally right, I should have thought of that.

It's all totally good now. I never realized how great Charlatan can sound!

will try these later this evening I just recent;y jumped on the charlatan fan waggon with its excellent sound. You really need to add on some FX and then this thing rocks. pads leads even keys it does a lot. I recently started to look at other free synths and even some that came with my daw that I had overlooked and Charlatan is up there. I found out about PG8X on this forum and it has been another you can use if you add some nice fx.

Post

If you'd been playing music in the 80s and 90s, all you'd get is a synth with a raw sound. you'd possibly get a chorus [Juno-60], or delay, and a nasty sounding reverb if you're lucky. ;) Then you had to process these sounds with the outboard FX. I'm not talking "workstation" synths here, but they had mostly bad sounding FX anyway, so it was preferable to use outboard ones.

Point? I don't know. Just saying how countless hits had been made *at the time*. :D You get to your own conclusions and opinions. Some people like to design sounds with the "onboard" FX. I'm not one of those. However, I sometimes appreciate a chorus... if it sounds good. But it's better to have the control of the oscillators and the panning, unison, stuff like that.

For me, it is the normal way of working, anyway. I can easily guess how the sound will sound when I process it with the FX I want to process it with.

Cheers!

A little bump for those who missed the announcement.
I'll add this bank to the KVR database (Charlatan downloads) over the weekend.

I made a post in the KVR Charlatan thread about differences in sound between 1.4 and 1.4.1. Unfortunately, that thread is flooded with discussions about Charlatan skins and no one reacted - or maybe because it wasn't really a question - just a statement. Anyway, does your bank sound OK in 1.4.1 ? Its a little bit troubling to me that I could be spending time programming patches for it and then in next version they will sound different. What do you think ?

I did see your post in the other thread but couldn't react as 1.4.1 is the only version I ever used.
I did try out 1.4 but all the sounds in this bank were made on 1.4.1 last week.
I agree that updates should never break older patches but if I understand well 1.4 had a bug which was fixed in 1.4.1.
If the next version "break" my bank (will someone quote me and make a funny comment again?), I'll just redistribute 1.4.1 along with it since the developper allows it.
And about the "skin" thing, I'm partly to blame as I added mine to the thread.

My pleasure. And I hope that the 130+ people who downloaded it are making good tunes with it.
This weekend, I'll need to update Time Capsule as the pitchwheel control isn't set.
By the way, I'd like some feedback on the patches if possible.
