Your problem might be about the PortAudio dll with Wasapi and ASIO enabled failing. The HourGlass folder has the PortAudio_NoAsioNoWasapi subfolder. Try replacing (copy, paste, say yes to overwrite) the portaudio_vs2010.dll in the folder where the .exe is, with that one.CrystalWizard wrote:ha, i guess i should rephrase my post, i am a noob to W7, new machine...
no i don't think it's running that program, thanks.

Do you perhaps have a smallish monitor? HourGlass isn't unfortunately really designed to work well with small monitors.marioisaac wrote:I have a problem
When I launch Hour Glas its says:
HourGlass Initialized, 8 CPUS Detected.
I can see the envelopes Display but not the transport nor the parameters controls window.
by the way Im on a Mac OS X 10.8.3

Hmm, did you try to copy and run just the .exe file from your desktop? That will not work, the .exe needs to be together with the other files (msvcp100.dll, QtCore4.dll etc).CrystalWizard wrote:i'm not exactly a noob but i can't seem to get HG to run on my windows7 machine. i dwnld and put on desktop (just for testing) and try to open HourGlass.exe and get a message: HourGlass has stopped working. tried opening it as administrator, no go. anyone have an answer?

by the way Im on a Mac OS X 10.8.3You could try hiding some GUI elements using the View menu and otherwise rearranging/resizing the GUI elements to get them to fit better in the available screen space.
The transport and parameters control window have completely disappear.
Is there a way to completely uninstall the software from MAc and try reinstalling it again?

Uninstalling and reinstalling isn't likely going to help. The settings files are separate from the .app bundle. I would guess the settings file that keeps the GUI element positions stored has been corrupted. The HourGlass settings on OS-X go into an unfortunately obscure location in the filesystem that I can't even remember at the moment where it it is....But if you are lucky, searching for HourGlass.ini might reveal the location. If you find the file, delete it it and HourGlass will start from scratch at the next launch.marioisaac wrote:I have 2 monitorsXenakios wrote:Do you perhaps have a smallish monitor? It's also possible that HourGlass doesn't work with 2 monitors on OS-X to begin with. I haven't tested such a scenario at all. (Actually not even on Windows...)
I currently can't run OS-X at all (I had to repurpose the computer), so troubleshooting and bug fixes for OS-X are more or less on hold for an undetermined time.
edit : Here are some instructions to attempt to get to the ini-file. In Finder, type shift-command-g and paste "~/.config/Xenakios/" into the window. (Without the " characters.) The folder that contains the HourGlass.ini file should open. Then delete the .ini file.

Acknowledging how to fix this, I tested it again. if I close the Sound Viewer, Sound sources, and Main Parameters, and there seems to be no way (other than deleting the .ini file) to bring them into view again.
Thank you very much again. You are amazing.

That's quite certainly a bug in HourGlass. I hope I can eventually look into that on OS-X, but I have no time frame at the moment when a fix might happen.marioisaac wrote: if I close the Sound Viewer, Sound sources, and Main Parameters, and there seems to be no way (other than deleting the .ini file) to bring them into view again.

Also can this be used as a VST or AU?
Thanks
