I like that I can drive it to the MAX and it still doesn't sound harsh at all.
When driven to max It just farts in a very nice way.. :)
It will be great to use it it subtly here and there in the mix to beef it up..

I would like to see one in the same mood as the skin of IVGI ! The 3rd one looks awesome to me !

I have to agree.. Warm colors make it almost sound even better.. :)
The contrast is good as well.

Sorry guys, these are not skins.

It the 4 different modes interface. Each mode has its own.

And different controls, so sorry for the misunderstanding !

Well it doesn't change the quality of the product so no big deal... ;)
Anayway, interesting choice by Tony !!

EDIT : if you look closer to the pics you'll see that for each skin a different mode is engaged. So yes different mode different skin.

I predict it will sell like hotcakes

If you are beta testing (which I presume is the only way you'd have access to the big brother) why would you override Tony and post pix here?

Post

The GUI looks stunning! I'm also hopping that at some point you might consider adding Tape compression algos (not just saturation)

Thank you !

Wait... let me get this straight... you can sell cakes? ;)

Well, SDRR's STAGES switch looks interesting. Will this be a nice credible guitar amp simulation when all stages are activated? And one stage for Vocal Niceness?

About the metering in the freebie: if I understood the manual correctly, having OUT-IN activated and setting OUTPUT so the needle hovers around 0dB, I should get equal loudness to the effect bypassed? Doesn't seem that way here, anybody getting the same?

Are you asking me?
I have no idea, I just discovered the screenshots, just like you :)

Apologies. Thought you were one of the beta testers who felt compelled to share, my mistake.

I wish I had

Is IVGI the new Camel Crusher killer? ;)

This is no guitar FX module, it's laid out for general purpose saturation. Even though you can turn up everything to max, which does introduce a ton of distortion (if desired).

Since the cat is out of the bag now, I hope Tony won't mind "some" promo work.

You you already saw with the screenshots, you will have access to four different modes:

- Tube (which is pretty much the "other twin" of IVGI)
- Digital (a pure digital saturation mode, no rebuilt of anything)
- Fuzz (based upon popular fuzz modules, however highly modified and channel usable)
- Desk (inspired by old not-so-overused mixing consoles)

Each modules will have their own dynamic settings, soundshaping capabilities, etc. The "Desk" mode can even be seen as channel strip, if your CPU allows it (Cubase 7 users be warned! ASIO Guard shows 10-15%, Reaper only 2% per instance!) - just turn off the crosstalk, slam it on a channel, set up, be happy.

Take note of the "Stages" mode and the "Crosstalk".

The "stages" mode is a specific configuration where the internals might be connected in series or parallel. The Crosstalk mode offers "off", "medium" and "full/high". Highest crosstalk is around -60dBFS, medium about -75dBFS to -70dBFS (depending on the module) - which clocks in with most current creations. Off is usually noise floor around -110dB to -100dB. So channel bleeding can (and will) happen in the stereo modes.

Speaking of stereo modes:
You can use the plugin in Mono, Stereo and Dual Mono. Why Dual Mono? Chances are that you do have a stereo signal, but you don't want your parameters and internal modules to be linked. They pretty much "drift slighly" in dual mono.

Think of emulations like the Fairchild clone by IKM. Here the stereo signal doesn't result in the same readouts for both L/R, but the readouts are shifted. The Fairchild plugin (even if linked) works channel independent. Same happens with SDRR in Dual Mono mode.

And before anyone asks:
This is nothing along the lines of Soundtoys DECAPITATOR or MellowMuse's SATV. But it can complement these tools gracefully. It's also no CamelCrusher killer.

I'm sure there will be more info, the closer we'll get to the release date.

This can happen sometimes and is very signal dependent.

Keep in mind, the VU is... well, a VU. 300ms rise/fall, unweighted, reference level -18dBFS. Send in a transient heavy signal, readouts will be shifted. You know the drill. (use both a digital meter and a VU to get the right signals). Therefore, also handle your input trimming with care.

If you use this thing on the summing bus, you can use the IN-OUT VU mode as indication. But let your ears be the final judge while A/Bing.
