If Reaktor is to be upgraded, every Reaktor user need to pay the same price to upgrade I believe.

So what would you rather do, buy Reaktor now at $/€99 and pay the upgrade cost if R6 comes, or wait until Reaktor 6 arrives and pay $/€399 for that?

When Reaktor 5 arrived, those who had Reaktor 3 or 4 paid €149/$169 to upgrade: http://www.kvraudio.com/news/ni_releases_reaktor_5_3589

So Reaktor 5 -> 6 would be €248 (€99+€149), while buying Reaktor 6 when it comes out would be €399 based on previous examples.

Reaktor is recently updated with some features, such as OSC support, I doubt they would do that if the release of the next version would be imminent. Rather, I think the bundling of M4L with Live Suite is the reason for the sale. Both M4L and Reaktor rely on their user shared content, more users is more user shared content. M4L immediately brought Ableton more users, with the sale NI probably expect to keep things in balance.
just my 2c.

Would NI really update Reaktor to 6 right now? Komplete and KU9 were only released a short time ago. Reaktor 6 right now would mean a huge segment of the NI faithful would stay a step behind for at least 6 months or more.

I don't know - I think a lot of Reaktor users would want to get in early anyway and sell their surplus license when K10 comes out. That's what I would do for sure. Komplete doesn't always come out every year anyway and when it first came out it was very much the case that if you wanted to get in early on a product you bought it standalone first.

Reaktor 5.5 is highly useful and has hundreds of useful patches. It's fantastic.

The user library is superb and Reaktor is 100% worth 99€.

Agree, there's enough sonic possibilities in this app to get you occupied for the rest of your life!

Complete no brainer!

That's a different product innit? :hihi:

@olikana, Just my 2 penn'orth but i think you should buy it if you think it's worth it for what you get now, i know Ni has crazy sales and they usually precede something new but i doubt the 6 upgrade would cost as much as 6 standalone and you'll have all the instruments and fx to use until then not to mention the modular stuff. I've regretted not jumping on reaktor in the past, and what if there is no V6 on the horizon?! :o

My gut tells me there's no R6 in the near term, just like last time NI had a Reaktor $99 sale. It's just a good deal. Besides, R5.5 *was* R6.

I find it interesting that so many people are considering buying Reaktor in order to dive in and start building their own instruments. With Native Instruments now using Reaktor as a platform for their latest commercial synths, it seems obvious that they really just want an expanded user base to whom they can market Razor, Monark, Skanner XT, Spark, etc.

Of course, I've been a Komplete owner for years, so I would recommend all of it!

Yes, they thought that if they release a few good synths, then lots of ppl would be eager to buy Reaktor for 399 Euro. It didn't happen, so they just changed the order of logic.

Ah, and i bought it too, along with Razor:)

Can anyone tell me for certain that you need the FULL Reaktor to load custom samples in Skanner XT?

Edit, googled and found the answer, you need full.

Can Reaktor be activated in some way on a computer not internet connected?

Post

yes, you can obtain the activation file on another computer and transfer that to your workstation offline.
