Yeah, I could code something like that up, too... no problem. But I was thinking more having it integrated with SoundCloud somehow, where I assume most of the listening happens these days. Having the star rating system would be almost ideal... of course everyone might have to have a SoundCloud account and be logged in to ensure no duplicate voting. I was experimenting with the API a while back... almost made a better player than they have but lost interest temporarilybjporter wrote:I could possibly program something like that unless there's a better coder out there.z.prime wrote:Also, would be awesome to have some sort of voting system built right into SoundCloud or wherever the tracks live...
It would seem easy - just have all track displayed on one or optionally paged - and put a star rating next to it. At the bottom a nice submit button, which sends info to the Google doc.

Definitely would be cool to get something like that going. If not connected to Google docs, ideally something where the results could easily be ported there (as Google docs seem more permanent).
SoundCloud has some competition apps, and I've requested one before (late 2012) to suit for here, but no response and nothing existing that we could use as far as I can see.
This depends on the vote-for-all option winning in the upcoming rules vote, so I guess have that first but let's scout the options in case it wins. I am not really good at programming so would have little to contribute in that area though..

Thanks for pointing that out, it's all too easy to oversee the FAQ after rules changes.Kondarivan wrote:Looks like the FAQ page ( https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/faq ) still displays old rules stuff:
orHow do I vote?
Check the voting thread in the forum for how many points you can give, then write your vote as a post
in the same thread. Can I vote even if I am not entered?
Yes, voting is open to all, but you need to have 20 posts at KVR forum before the start of the competition period.

Here is a draft for the upcoming rules vote. Please check it for errors and/or add suggestions.

One thing... I mentioned (possibly this thread) about doing a 0-5 scale. Then Z.prime added that we could just leave songs blank instead of giving a 0.V'ger wrote:Here is a draft for the upcoming rules vote. Please check it for errors and/or add suggestions.

Hopefully that's not too much

Sure, that's now added as a separate required question if you select yes to graded voting, try it to see.

There's also a follow-up question if you select more than 1 to "Limited submissions per entrant (person/team)?"
Limit prizes to 1 per entrant (person/team)?
-Yes
-No
Try it out.

Just a few memory notes.
·In case only one submission per participant/collab. Possibility to merge two projects in only one using anything, render wave into a project, a wave editor even, etc.
I don't see a problem with this, no plugins involved at all.
·Strict rule about "I voted" have to be posted when secret voting have been done.
That makes admins life easier when counting votes, etc.
And the most important one. Select with the mouse to see it.
Secret: ·Someone has to buy me a new commercial synth each month or you'll get banned from OSC!

Yes you're right that must be in the rules, but don't need a poll as it's a must really. I already changed.IrionDaRonin wrote:·Strict rule about "I voted" have to be posted when secret voting have been done.
About the merging of projects do we need that as a rule? Wouldn't it just be a single submission, but with a weird and unnatural parts change that people would vote down anyway? Would it then have to be specified?

Honestly, if it's 2 great songs back to back, and with a little space, or patched up creatively... I'm diggity down for that.V'ger wrote:Yes you're right that must be in the rules, but don't need a poll as it's a must really. Why do you assume it would be weird and unnatural? Binding things together is sometimes more important and challenging than just going on with the song. Think film music.V'ger wrote:Wouldn't it just be a single submission, but with a weird and unnatural parts change that people would vote down anyway?

But if it's 2 separate projects glued together it would likely sound strange as everything from the genre, sounds and even mix might be different.. If it fits then it's just a part in the normal way. In either case it would still be a single submission. Bottom line is that I don't understand what the rules vote question would be I guess.. Can anyone define it?

OT but I just saw Klanghelm Audio has released IVGI, a freeware saturation and distortion effect, should really be worth checking as his compressor is renowned.

I dunno exactly what the problem would be... a single submission is a single submission, whether it's projects glued together or not, it would be judged as a whole.V'ger wrote:But if it's 2 separate projects glued together it would likely sound strange as everything from the genre, sounds and even mix might be different.. The only thing that would possibly qualify is not using post-processing beyond the DAW, which we already sorta said is okay. One could effectively freeze the entire project, then work on a second and have the same outcome as gluing multiple together, in theory.
