Waring about Arturia

Hi this is a message for people considering Arturia products.
The warning in buying Arturia VSTs such as MiniMoog and Brass 2 is that after 3 Authroization codes they say you should buy an E-Licenser you would like to continue using THEIR PRODUCT. This is the only company out of all my software which requires an E licenser after so many uses.
I have done aboit 5 clean installs in the past year due to whatever reasons and switching computers also. So this post is for your information to use caution when buying product in which will not let you easily get more authorizations.
I have Waves plugins and love them. But with Waves it is extremely easy and effacacious.

Wow - thanks for the tip. I have been seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on some of their products.
Perhaps this is why I've not heard from their tech team on an issue I reported well over a week ago.

Whoa. I always thought just having to contact the company for additional C/R serials was bad enough. I break Windows several times a year, you can probably guess I was told to leave things alone when I was a kid pretty often (never really complied), so if I can't install offline at any moment, it's most likely a no-go for me. But having to buy stuff again? That's definitelly a never-go. Too bad because I keep eyeballing the Prophet 5/VS thing, but I guess Augur and whatever subtractive with sync will have to do, which isn't a big deal really.
I gotta say, the only VST piece of software that I think has no substitute is Kontakt. Thankfully there's almost endless options for most stuff I use, so I can just say 'no thanks' most of the time

To be fair, the Steinberg USB-eLicenser : USB protection key used in Arturia software costs $22.00 (shipping?). I actually already own one from an earlier version of cubase.

Am I missing something?

3 is a lot more generous than some companies that use elicenser. And if you've had five builds in the past year, you're doing something wrong.

By the way, Waves only grants you two before it starts costing you money.

Companies that fail to accomodate people they know to be paying customers should be punished IMO.
If you know a guy is legit why should he have to ask twice? It smacks of ingratitude and arrogance whenever you break the balls of the honest people who have actually patronized you.

So, I'm not getting in on the Arturia bashing, I use my cubase elicenser for their products because I can easily move it around. But, in general, this is why I hate C/R more than dongles. I don't install five times a year, but, it's not uncommon when doing an install to have to reinstall. This happened to me recently with live and I had to "beg" for new authorizations. They gave them to me, but, I felt quite annoyed as it took time. If I earned a living doing this I'd be quite a bit more annoyed.pandashake wrote:By the way, Waves only grants you two before it starts costing you money.
FWIW: I'm easily annoyed.

Copy Protection has only one purpose, to protect the intellectual property / revenues of developers.
Developers should give paying customers anything they want because Copy Protection is a nuisance that should not even be there.

^^ Ableton must like me more than you as they never made me beg for more, I just had to ask.
Also Protop: when you've only got one authorization left, ask them to bump up your limit again, that way you never have to wait.

beg=give a reason. I'm a paying customer, that's all the reason that you should need. Really, Ableton should take a page from NI, they have never given me any hassle.samsam wrote:^^ Ableton must like me more than you as they never made me beg for more, I just had to ask.

Well I got the automated email telling me I had 1 auth left and replied asking for more and giving no reason.
Maybe I got lucky (!) but Abes have been impeccable with me over the years

No, I think it smacks of companies cooking up strategies to unload the negative effects of piracy onto someone other than themselves, and it just so happens that, sadly, the easiest place to unload is onto their paying customers.electro wrote:Companies that fail to accomodate people they know to be paying customers should be punished IMO.

PArt of the reason why I had to do so many clean installs was that I had a fireiwre error driver crashing. Also I bought a new computer.
From what I hear the E licenser is the fix that you can use again and again without buying new licenses.
I didn't know Waves charges for extra authorizations. So far I've been lucky. But yeh thats gonna suck.

I like elicenser, I wish that ableton and cycling 74 would use it instead of their current choices.MadAnthony81 wrote:PArt of the reason why I had to do so many clean installs was that I had a fireiwre error driver crashing. Also I bought a new computer.
