mac 64 bit questions

I finally got around to buying a new computer. much more RAM than I had and it's running Mountain Lion. My previous computer was running snow leopard and everything ran great. lets hope this does as well; i'm in the process of moving everything over now.
i feel like I should run Logic in 64 bit mode to take advantage of the extra power, but unfortunately a lot (like A LOT) of my plugs and instruments aren't available in 64 bit (like all of the AAS, NI and IKM stuff I sunk all of that money into - grrr). i have been researching and there are some plugs that I can't figure out out if they have 64 bit versions. wondering if you guys knew or had experience with them; also are any of you using the bridge? if so what do you think of it's reliability and ease to fit into your workflow?
1. podfarm (seems like I need to buy the latest version to get 64 bit)
2. Kontakt 5/Reaktor 5/ players (I have a bunch of sound packs and ocean way drums I'd like to use).
3.Cable Guys Curve CM 2 (I've been using the first version in 32 bit)
4. the arturia minimoog that was given away for free awhile back (I love that synth, would hate to lose it).
5. amplitube custom shop (I bought tons of credits in the group buy awhile back)
6. Izotope vinyl (only saw windows listed for 64 bit)
7. IKM T-Racks - I bought classic EQ, brickwall limiter, opto comp, prof EQ and the 670 vintage comp. i can't even find them on the webpage anymore.
8.Overloud Breverb (seems like all of those old audio midi sales toys are going to not happen anymore)
9.NuSofting Broken Drum Machine
10.Sinevibes Dynamo and Frequency (not on the webpage anymore)
11.SFX Machine Pro
12. XILS 3 LE (i love this synth, please work)
13.Audio Spillage: Elektroid
14. Eve2
15. East West Play
apparently no IKM stuff is 64 bit, or am I mistaken? i don't get it; there is freeware out there that has updated to 64 bit. I am ok with losing some stuff; maybe the limited palette will be inspiring. but jeez, I sunk a lot of cash into some of this stuff. anyways, thanks for your input.

Correct on POD Farm—PF2 is 64-bit, PF is not.michael2 wrote: 1. podfarm (seems like I need to buy the latest version to get 64 bit)

Yes, Kontakt 5 and Reaktor 5 are 64-bit.
Arturia: I did get the free version, but I don't recall using it under 64-bit, and I suspect it's not 64-bit. I liked it well enough to purchase the upgrade, which is 64-bit.

I ran Logic as 64-bit on ML for a while, but went back to 32-bit because I was using some 32-bit only plugs and Logic didn't really need the additional RAM. If you don't need the RAM for sample libraries, you don't really need to run 64-bit.
That extra RAM will be used by the OS for a myriad other things; don't worry that it's wasted.

thanks for your input. here's a question then about the 64 bit/32 bit thing: if i was to record something in 32 bit and bounced the audio, would I be able to use that same audio file in 64 bit? or vice versa?
sorry for the stupid questions. been on snow leopard for so long I haven't really been following the 64 bit thing much. after I get everything installed I have some research to do.

64/32-bit is all about the addressable memory at the moment—how much can fit in memory at the same time, essentially. Audio is always streamed from disk—it doesn't all fit in memory whether the app is in 32- or 64-bit mode. So, let's say that you have some pig-ish plug-ins, ones that slam you up against memory limitations in 32-bit and make performance go to heck. You go to 64-bit for the bigger memory space, and everything's a lot better. Yes, you can still switch the app back to 32-bit (via Get Info dialog int he Finder), relaunch to add and print a track using an old 32-bit-only pluggie. (It may have trouble loading the piggish pluggies you were running in 64-bit, but you can shut them down.) Then you can relaunch at 64-bit and carry on.michael2 wrote:thanks for your input. here's a question then about the 64 bit/32 bit thing: if i was to record something in 32 bit and bounced the audio, would I be able to use that same audio file in 64 bit? or vice versa?
Yes, there are ways to run 32-bit plugs, but I don't mess with that. But the main point is that the same stuff is printed in either space.

I believe these all have updates which make them work in 64-bit kernel. I know that classic EQ and 670 do as I use them. They changed the internal identifier which made loading templates I had them in fail to load them but they act like that's unique to my host, VE Pro.michael2 wrote:IKM T-Racks - I bought classic EQ, brickwall limiter, opto comp, prof EQ and the 670 vintage comp.
The Arturia free MiniMoog does work in x64.

really? that's good news then. I should have clicked on the release notes for the plugs I have in my user area.jancivil wrote:I believe these all have updates which make them work in 64-bit kernel. very excited about minimoog working. did you update it or did it just work? I'm still in the process of reinstalling and organizing everything so I haven't opened Logic other than to check that things are working once installed. really looking forward to playing with it and having a little extra juice,
