---Last Saturday night my StudioConnect just died on me right before a gig and I was about to panic, we use the iPad for several different sounds so not having it is a really bad thing. Sunday I emailed Griffin to see if they had some idea what was wrong and today they sent me a reply telling me that they were going to replace it. Their customer service is very good and I really appreciate their professionalism. The StudioConnect is indispensable for my band and I'm very happy with the unit and the company...

Great news that they are taking care of their customers. I hope they send you a replacement before your next gig. Definitely good folks.

I too have a StudioConnect and find it indispensable. I sent them an email regarding any possibility to have a switch to turn off charging the battery to prevent overcharges and they replied quickly that it is not possible with the current unit. I am a hobbyist DIYer and was hoping to add one myself.

I also have their Survivor iPad case and it is a great unit. I had to get a drimmel tool to shave some of the plastic around the 30 pin connector and the headphone input to get it connected with my gear. I was going to inform them so perhaps they could make tooling changes for future cases but never got around to it. I have a feeling they would listen to their customers.

Anyway, good luck on your gigs.

---Thanks a lot. From what I understand, overcharging isn't possible thanks to a cutoff circuit that prevents it. I use one of the Otter Defender cases and had to remove it to get the plug to fit, maybe one of those extensions? I'm not sure....

Good to know about the circuit. Thanks.

Not sure an extension will work unless it is smaller than the original plug. A small file should work to get the case opening a bit larger to allow the plug to fit.

I'm not one to take my case off just to dock it.

That's great to hear. Thanks for sharing your positive experience.

Thanks for the advice and I will certainly take it. I'll file that opening to make it bigger...

I too have the Survivor case and the iPad2 has been saved by it numerous times. Literally a 12 foot drop one time and no problem. WOW!

I have been seriously thinking about the modification as well. It's only the CCK that doesn't fit. All other cables still work, even the HDMI adapter.

Just last night I finally just gave up and removed the iPad2 from the Survivor case and put it in the standard Apple "Smartcase".
It's my wife's old case so it's PINK. AARRGH! As much as I like pink, is the Dremel option on the Survivor case actually feasible without looking horrible?

Pink? OUCH!

Yes, the CCK adapter is way too big to fit in the Survivor case. I only use it with my Korg NanoPad but the Dremel tool fixed that right up.

The rubber case mostly hides the plastic case trimming but I had to trim it a bit as well. It doesn't look too bad compared to a pink case :-) .

Thanks Keebo. I think I'll do the deed.
