OSCar.

Just the most playable commercial run synth. Not necessarily the most powerful in some aspects, but the most powerful in most aspects (excepting modulars, but I'd still rather have an OSCar than most modulars in terms of instant playability)

It's about the only synth I ever had that I wanted to run without FX most of the time, as it was that sweet a sound I didn't want to detract from it. Probably 303 was the only other one. I think my OSCar time was my most moist... :?

the ARP2600P v2.0 (the one with the the 4035 filter and the 4027 ocillators from National Semiconductor)
apart from being superflexible synth it sports a variant of the moog ladder "
minimoog is discrete transistors, hand matched in top and bottom ladder etc. ARP4035 uses CA3086 transistor array chips" as i read on gearlutz.

i had a a korg/monopoly in a studio i worked for and absolutely loved it.
the software version doesn't have a 0dff filter and sounds plasticky and dry with some filter modulations with resonance. i bought the emulation instantly....it's ok but not even 90% there imo.

I'll have to check this out. Im fascinated in finding out what kind of synth Urs considers the top of the line. Think Ive been secretly curious about that for a while now.

Quite a rich tone. That suboscillator or whatever he's switching in is killer, too.
Okay, yes, that sounds magnificent!
Who is "I"? What is "I"? This has yet to be explained.

I don't repair synths. I'm not a mechanic/electrician/engineer... I'm a doctor!!! Uhm, I mean musician/producer :D

I also don't drive/have a car. So if I ever buy a vintage synth, it will have to be cheap or durable - because once it breaks down, game over :?

My oldest synth is a Kawai K1 (not sure if I can call it 'vintage'), and it was cheap AND it will probably survive the next world war 8)

Is the Kurzweil K2000 any good? I've heard that they are as good as a Roland, but I haven't got the chance to try one.

I had a few synths over the years and, in my time as a synth repair tech, I have probably played with most of the commercial synths out there. My favourite is still the second version of the Oberheim Two Voice.

Having said that I now only use one vintage analogue and that's my modded out Korg Micropreset.

My Teisco 60F closely followed by my Opus 3. They are both getting a bit tatty, but still work well. I would hate to be without 'em.

I don't own one because I don't have space for another synth, but my favorite would have to be the Jupiter-6. Of synths that I do own, its a toss up between the Andromeda and the FR-777.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Sure, it's not as flash as some of the other suggestions here, but a) it was reasonably cheap, b) it sounds fuzzy and c) it's mine.

What do you think about the Kurzweil K2000? :?:

I haven't owned so many synths that could be considered as vintage. My current favourite is the Casio CZ3000 because I love it's character.

Many compares it's sound to the DX synths but I don't think they sound like each other at all (I have a TX81Z as well).

I have owned a number of hardware vintage synths but always like how the Prophet looked.

There is something about WOOD on a synth.....
