Yeah, I don't think she's off-key, as in "incapable of hitting the right notes", but she needs to have arrived at the right notes before she starts singing them.. erm...

to my ears, even without obvious repetition it did seem cohesive somehow

aside from a little clipping or something on the bells that came forward [edit: never mind -- that must be intentional, since it's about a bee] -- nice deployment throughout sonic space

on the first listen, I was thinking "this is jazz 2004" ... of course, vurt and beardedone attend different schools ... or it's the same school but the timeline is at a different angle, or something

@t-willy you'll end up playing an organ, that's what'll happen...

You won't want to, because it's taboo, but you'll love it...FOR EXACTLY THE SAME REASON!!!

Seriously, whenever I'm stuck in a rut, I make a point of trying my hand at an instrument or musical style I either can't play or hate, and I usually emerge with a new-found respect for aforementioned instrument/music and a few good ideas that wouldn't have surfaced had I merely stuck to what I know and love

jens and vocalist:

I think the vocals and their texture were appropriate to the track ... considering the tempo and all the words to be sung, there was not much room for more expressiveness

The vocals had a nice everyday feel ... you wouldn't really want Sarah Brightman or Kim Carnes singing on this track

And compared to Paul Weller, they didn't have such an "alternate tuning" sound [I love his voice and his questing, btw]

Overall I like the track ... it has a nice early summer/fresh cotton dresses feel, like "the weather's nice, let's have a picnic"

i swear, i just don't like the sound of an organ if its not at a church or an old horror flick. phantom of the opera would have ruled though if he played electric guitar

can't stand the doors, or any other rock/rock band with an organ in it. not that those bands or people here at KvR aren't kick ass at using or playing an organ, just don't like the sound of it. just a quirk of mine

but clueless, one thing i'll never do, no matter how bored i am, or how stuck i am in music - i won't use an organ. i'll personally get a picture of an organ tatooed on my ass if I ever do use one

like i said though, people can use them very well here at KvR, just not my thing and nothing personal, just having fun

- I hear you with the Paul Weller example but I also know what Clueless means with his
'piano-theremin'-metaphor: she may sing the blue notes but not so much 'glide/bend' into them

that's weird but cool ... I know some people here have said they can't stand brass and I knew someone a long time ago who also did not, whereas I do

so when people post in the Cafe, should they type "warning: Brass!" or "warning: Organ!"?
