As V'ger and Irion said, name the file you upload to Soundcloud: Artist - Title.
If you fail to do this, you won't get points or mentions from me, even if you're Quincy Jones v2. I'm tired of downloading files that I have to rename myself because the uploader was too lazy or simply didn't care.
@chris_b: Thank you for solving Feldspar bug, allowing to finish my track.

Uh, okay. Next time, I'll take that into account. I know the feel because sometimes my internet connection is a modern day torture.IrionDaRonin wrote:And other important thing, at least to me.
I don't have a 2 Terabytes sized hard disc, mine is a little crappy one with just 500 Gygabytes so i don't have enough space for all wave files each month.
We are not a mastering company, we don't need 32bits wave format files.![]()

I wasn't writting down names or something, i really don't remember who did it or not.
Just thinking out loud to make things easier, and the hard work here will be easily done by admins and listener when voting.
I think MP3 320kbps, OGG at 350kbps or Flac files less of 30 Mbs will do the trick.
So please, buddies, let's try to make it this way.
Converting files in MP3 is easy. And if your daw doesn't have the option, you always can use free wave editors, even Winamp works.
Have a nice day

Cheers for all the submissions so far
About the naming it is a mess and will always be a mess, you can just forget it Irion..
I did similar calls before and I think Tattiemannie before me, but the truth it's easy to forget as uploading is usually last after hours of mixing so it's understandable people mess up with that.
I can also understand people uploading full format to SoundCloud as their converter frankly sucks and if you upload an MP3 it will convert it to MP3 without exception which is obviously not good.
But if you download the songs after deadline from Archive.org in the link that comes up (individually, zip file or torrent etc), they are all named properly and all are MP3s so suggest everyone waits for that if file names or size are issues.
Before uploading to the archive I download all songs and just copy the song text on SoundCloud as that's usually always right, and then use that when saving the files. It's automated now so no real biggie. This means all files will be renamed even if they are named properly to begin with.. After that I use Bulk Renamer to get uniformity with spaces, dashes, capital letters and so on. Then those that are not MP3 are converted before uploading all to the archive.
Btw, for downloading, I recommend using the torrent as that's really fast from the archive even if no one else is seeding etc.

I know that, but if we can put a bit of effort it won't harm anyone. So i hope will take this in mind for next times.V'ger wrote:Cheers for all the submissions so far

About the full wave format, i always listen tracks in MP3 (any bit rate) from my hard disc, because i always download files in MP3. So the player can do whatever it wants, as i will download the file and i will listen properly from my hard disc.
So people really wouldn't need to upload full format, because if a track is easily downloadable and portable and easy in the hard disc we will listen it very good (if we download it).
However, if people upload the track in many megabytes, personally i won't download, and i will be listening the crappy quality from the Soundcloud player.
So the best way to go, and best result would be a easy sized file (downloadable), with maximum quality possible.
I'm using the Soundcloud player for the first quick listen, to listen if the track have "something", tricks, interesting stuff and so on. I take advantage of that moment to make my comments in Soundcloud.
When i download all of them, i listen once again to set my votes, sometimes even twice.
Sometimes we are no at home, and we like to listen to tracks in the car, in mp3 player while taking a walk, etc...
In any case, i always download the Zip file from Archive.org, but this time it won't be possible as i'm moving to another flat and i will be offline during a few days.
As i'm poor, i don't have these modern smart phones neither, so i can't download of listen from Soundcloud or anything.
But i will make an exception for this month and download all files, no matter the size. But i won't do it from next months, if i'm still alive.
Have a nice day

But do people really download from SoundCloud? The songs statistic seem to suggest most use the player although there are some downloadstoo of course. The download from Archive.org is used, so maybe most will wait for that (with correct file names + format etc).
