I have copies of Sonar X1 Studio, Reason 5, and Record 1.5 that I don't use, but I realized that Sonar X1 had at least three decent plugins (Z3ta+, Dimension LE, and Rapture LE).

Do these programs come with any more plugins that I should consider using in another DAW?

I don't remember in X1, but in X2 at least, some of the best plugins are "Sonar Only" meaning if you load them into any other VST host, they won't work. I know R-Mix and Breverb are like this.

Z3TA is usable in other hosts. Not sure about DimPro LE or Rapture LE. I have the full versions and they're usable in other hosts, but I'm not sure about the LE versions. As far as I can recall, all the other X1 plugins are locked to Sonar.

Thanks for the replies

Rapture LE and DimPro LE have worked in other hosts for me. Is there anything in reason worth checking out? Does Record have plugins at all?

Nothing in Reason 5 / Record 1.5 can be used in another DAW, it's all self-contained.

Ok

Reason can be used over Rewire from another host though...

If you load Breverb or R-Mix in Live you get the message it's only licensed to be used in Sonar but they do work. I don't see any reason if you paid for both Sonar and your other DAW why you wouldn't be allowed to use the plugins in whichever way and DAW you choose though..

Well, perhaps, as you point out, it is licensed for use in Sonar only. Any other use may constitute a violation of the license agreement.

Not that I agree with this license scenario but I would have to abide by the terms if this is the case.

Happy musiking!
