Completely offtopic, but can anyone recommend some good vocal plugins (for Windows)? Not really pitch correction (I have that and vocals I'm working with are pretty well tuned), more like awesome effects that happen to be really well suited for making vocals sound a bit more awesome - maybe a thickening plugin or harmonizing? Can be commercial, freeware would be preferred, of course.

All depends on what you are looking after.z.prime wrote:Completely offtopic, but can anyone recommend some good vocal plugins (for Windows)? If you want stutter stuff, Dblue Glitch, Sugar Bytes Effectrix.
If you want some cool effects, then a huge tail Reverb, delays, CM Diversion FX and so on.
The question here is: What means "more awesome" to you?

Here's a nice vocal thickening effect. ADT - Artificial Double Tracking:z.prime wrote:Completely offtopic, but can anyone recommend some good vocal plugins (for Windows)? Definitely worth a try if you don't already have it. And it's free.

Srsly... 84 though...
I just got 101 doing double fingers
Just remember that injecting steroids into your finger is against league regulations.

Oh yes
Audiospillage plugs are amongst the one I would like to try if they were crossplatform, also airwindows and sinus (hope I didn't mess with the company names)

Something I was pondering - forgive me if this has been discussed before and I missed it - the OSC seems to be gaining popularity, and as the number of entries grows to 40, 50, 100 etc. the amount of time required of everybody to rank entries will probably keep increasing too.
I've only done 3 or 4 contests so far, and am not super-involved, so take this all with a grain of salt - but I was thinking for myself I kind of wish I were around for the competition when it was like 15 entries - that seems like a sweet spot where you'd get good feedback from people on your own work, but it wouldn't become a full-time job to rate contestants either, and you'd have more time to enjoy and rate other people's work.
Anyway, I imagine there are ways to tweak the new voting structure a bit to where everybody gets a good amount of feedback and votes, and the competition can grow and include more people, but doesn't place a huge workload on everybody either. Not sure exactly what it'd look like, but maybe random selection of songs for each person to rate, or sub-comptetition groups that then go into a final round, etc.

That was one of the reasons i wanted to put the new rule of one track per participant.QuadrupleA wrote:Something I was pondering - forgive me if this has been discussed before and I missed it - the OSC seems to be gaining popularity, and as the number of entries grows to 40, 50, 100 etc. the amount of time required of everybody to rank entries will probably keep increasing too.

Can you buddies imagine how will be OSC in a couple of years? 80 entries?
Whatever happens, i love OSC, as it is a friendly, didactic and amusing place where i found many good friends.
I won't be tired never of telling this. I have found a true family here.
Have a nice day

Something I think could work is to rate the entries as they come in, since you can do them one or a few at a time and you have more weeks to do it as well. Just look at the amount of comments this produces and imagine how few it would be compared to if it was 2 weeks comment period afterwards like it is with voting now..
I guess this would have to be open so that you could fine tune the votes until the deadline.
Bjporter and Z.prime said they would check to see if something similar is doable, but it might be difficult as it would involve something directly with SoundCloud and have that somehow output to Google Documents..

I would have said the ADT too, but there's also mda Detune as well. In ReaPlugs there is in the JS bundle a plugin called 'Ozzifier'..z.prime wrote:Completely offtopic, but can anyone recommend some good vocal plugins (for Windows)? Also try to sauce on more saturation and compression than you are used to, and automate reverb instead of using pre-delay (to get it dry and legible in the beginning but spacey at the end)

Now that the voting is over after having used the the new voting system for the first time, maybe time for some thoughts.
We expected the new system might make it closer as most top songs would get similar scores and it was indeed very close. Of course this could just be a coincidence and it would be the same with the old system so this is not necessarily a proven thing.
The most obvious with the new voting system is the varying degree of points each voter gives. The difference between the one who gave the highest number of points to the one who gave the lowest was 111 points which is quite a lot. Of course nothing wrong with that as people vote as they see fit and like the songs etc, but does the gap present any problems iyo?
Have a look at the scoreboard with total points given:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv? ... full#gid=1
Points? Ideas? New system working or not?

Actually, I think it went much better than I initially expected (I was against it) - but it was a good idea in retrospective. I'm not too sure about the 1-point-for-your-track-thing, but I guess it's a fine workaround and... yeah.
About the time put into voting, it is a lot, yes, but as things stand right now it is at least still doable on an evening or two, and... well, what could you do about it anyway
(please no random track selection for everyone...)

I liked this new voting system. Because i always felt like crap when people were without points, i'm very empathic!
Everybody who made something with passion like to be liked by others after all, no? That's an artist.
So i always have put myself in the place of those who were getting zero points in the end of the month, and honestly i would feel really bad if i would be them.
Like, "No points for me? What's wrong with my music?".
All tracks have their good things and their bad things, even my first tracks were really bad when i started as i had many things in my mind and soul that everything was messed up.
But specially all those songs were made with effort, passion and love, and that effort must be rewarded somehow, imo.
That's why i think this new system gives points to everyone and people are happier, encouraging to make music and hopeful.
That's why i always told you something positive in your tracks, to encourage all of you to continue making music.
That's why i always tried to cheer up when someone got zero points.
In the technical side, i would make it a bit more perfect if were possible.
0 points for yourself would be the best thing. So from 0 to 5 points would be perfect.
Have a nice day
