i just found something strange. When i turn the volume of all oscillators to 0 (including the noise) and have a Cutoff value of around 2 or more and the filter envelope amount around 8 i hear a noise but usually it should be quiet at that setting.
Is this something copied from the real synth or is it a bug?
BTW self-oscillation (with all oscillators off) seems to works nicely and with filter key follow at maximum it is even playable. At a certain Cutoff frequency noise is added to the sound (cutoff value around 7-8, envelope amount 0).
I also found that the "full range envelope" switch is very helpful for long resonant sweeps.

Really like the modules are interacting in a familiar fashion. It's been yrs since I had my hands on one but I remember the intensity and smoothness of the sounds (can be quite cold as well) and how that noise section works with the filter so beautifully. My brain likes what it hears. I somehow embrace the limitation compared to LUSH (BUT I love LUSH as well, mind you, for just the opposite reason). But I have to say that I am falling hard for the sound. It's got a familiar sharp warm character when you get the filter moving, esp when combo w/ a slight bit of noise. Nice with the super-quick seq export/record functionality, sync modes and bonus options under some of those modules. Argh...why so many fantastic softwares these days. I'm really so impressed with all of you developers. Lots of dedication. Really great work on this one.

Hi guys, think like you are in the 80's again and don't randomise...just program it. You gonna find something you like, real fast. Call it randomiser inside your brain.

The SH101 was a little noisy. I believe that is also what makes the filter self oscillate with all oscs to zero. However, I do think it's a bit too loud, but my memory may fail on me. It's also pretty obvious there's noise in the patches when doing filter sweeps with the noise slider to 0. I think it's all behaviour that was on the real thing as well. Unfortunately, my SH101 is nothing more than an ugly slap of plastic in its current stateIngonator wrote:i just found something strange. I would imagin it comes from the model of the unit they had. You know how these boards are (can be). The J60 here does not however emit such noise when all OSC are toggled off and noise fader is at 0. Perhaps it had something to do with a deficiency in the fader (on the original model)?Ingonator wrote:i just found something strange. Looks like the emulation is a bit TOO realistic then...BDeep wrote: The SH101 was a little noisy. I believe that is also what makes the filter self oscillate with all oscs to zero. In NI Monark there is a "leakage" knob at the B page which seems to set the amount of noise from the PSU. Would be cool if there would be a possibility to turn the noise on/off with Basslinie-101 too.

This is really, really good. Shame it's so simple. But it's got a great sound.
Really phat, like you can lay anything down and it technically works, it might not be the right sound for the song, but it's not because the synth is not pulling it off. Amazing. Getting some really classic sounds from this.

Just got back from work and bought this straight away. I can see it quickly taking it's place alongside the likes of DCAM, OP-X Pro and UNO-LX as one of my most used VA softsynths. Here's hoping TAL's next project is something a bit more complex (Jupiter 8 please)!

Too right. He's nailed the good quality sound. Now for a new wave of VSTi synths pleasedexterbella wrote:Just got back from work and bought this straight away. TAL is #1 at this and if one of you are able to help make something like a hardware Jupiter 8 accessible, it may materialize.Aiynzahev wrote:Too right. He's nailed the good quality sound. I read somewhere it took him about a year to write BassLine, despite the similarities to the U-NO-LX. It would probably take him 3 years to make a Jupiter 8 emulation of the usual TAL quality...
Anyway, finally gave BassLine a try. It sounds very nice, but CPU load is quite high, even with one or two notes at a time. Even if my computer is not the best, it does seem to use more CPU than the U-NO-LX in relative terms.
