Thanks!

Well you're brave taxing your iPad with those resource hungry apps on a live performance. And look at it as you were taking one for the team here - do NOT use igrand and Nave on the same iPad live lol. Nah, I do hope it didn't ruin anything too much. :)

-----------

By the way, importing the bank via iTunes filesharing seems to crash Nave, so there's something weird with Nave and iTunes Filesharing (just delete the file again if you're having crashes, and import it via "open in..." On your iOS device).

chris1a, great job on the sound bank. "Gentle Violin Blades" is really nice. Reminds me of something from a fantasy RPG (if you play games). "Viola Casiola" is nice for low solo string. Nice variety and good descriptive names.

Thanks. I usually try out my ideas at home first. If that is successful I use it during band practice, then use it live. In this case, I used only Nave for band practice. I have used ONLY one app at a time live so far to limit myself to issues. When listening back to our recorded practice there were spots I felt could use some piano, too. So I did some practicing with both iGrand and Nave at home and all went well. Things went well for the first set, but I left the iPad sitting there (turned off, though) but background audio left on for both apps.

One thing I was VERY happy with was the pad sound I used on Nave. It really fit nicely so was extremely pleased to have used Nave.

Not too much. There was a crackle and then it went out. I use two keyboards and quickly switched to a somewhat similar pad sound on the top keyboard and played that while I waited for Nave to reload.

Thank you for those patches, Chris -- some patches are interesting but not musical, and yours are both.

Thanks iPlogger. Glad it worked out. :)

Thanks! While I really don't know exactly what I'm doing most of the time or how a preset is gonna end up, I try to make the presets work as chords (or leads) even with all the weirdness involved in a sound.

Btw soon done with another 10 presets, a bit of voices (no not Nave), choir-ish stuff. Some oriental-ish stuff and other "exotic" sounds and some more plucked stuff. I'm a sucker for pluck-sounds, of any kind for some reason. Anyway I'll probably update the bank when I reach 20 more preset or so.

The batteries on this old iPad 2 are starting to show their age, it just drains away while I'm in Nave. Can't wait for apple to release their next one..

The new bank is up! Over 20 new presets added, and some tweaking on a few of the older ones. This batch of new presets are a bit warmer in general I'd say. Some more acoustic elements added like voices, strings (plucked and others), few arps, warmer pads etc. And again, you can shape most sounds (or fine tune) into something completely different with the x/y pad and/or the mod wheel. Hope you find something useful in there!

Rar File (if the above don't work): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/100 ... ChrisG.rar

Nave supports Open In, so no need for a computer

(Note, importing banks via iTunes filesharing seems to crash the current version of Nave v.1.0, just delete the file again if that happens and download/import it on your iDevice)

Thank you, Chris. I'm looking forward to these.

Cool. Hope you like it.

The audio glitches in part 2 above are courtesy Naves 4 track recorder which seems to use way more resources then the entire synth itself (pls fix Waldorf, thank you!).

Nice sounds chris ;)
NAVE seems to crash on me here n there for some reason. And one preset doesnt always load properly unless i load the preset before it in the list first then try and load it again.. always works but it is a bit odd.... :)

Heres 23 more sounds some of you may like.. very dark and gritty.

You can get them from our website below

Thanks. Some really gritty stuff in there, great stuff looking forward to the final release! And lol at fxstutterrise, crazy!

Did you mean you got crashes and presets that's failing to load in my bank?

Nave is a crash fest when making presets, mostly happens when I'm in the wave window browsing waves. Also other bugs in there, like renaming a preset with a custom wave in it and Nave will usually change the wavetable to some random other. So for now I just avoid renaming, and always keep emailing the banks from within nave since it's so prone to crashing.

No i ment in the dark shadows bank.. just one preset called TIGER VELOCITY it doesnt fail to load it just doesnt always load right unless u load up the preset before it in the list.. Really weird i cant work out why it would behave tat way and its pretty consistent.. have a go.. load up a random preset from my bank and then load Tiger Velocity. i bet it doesnt sound the same as when u load Growl 1 first. (thats the preset before it in the list.

I also seem to get those pesky crashes so i usually save a few times as i working on a preset.. i even deleted 25 sounds from another nave bank i was designing. dont ask me why but instead of deleting a preset i deleted the whole bank..

I was wounded by that.lol

DR:

Ya i got the same thing. Quazer and the tiger preset uses whatever wavetable that any previously loaded preset used in slot 1. Really weird, obviously a bug. I'd send the bank to waldorf and/or Rolf at Tempo Rubato (the Nlog and nave dev). Probably related to Nave changing wavetables at random when changing a name on a preset that uses custom waves. It's so weird all the sound designers and beta testers missed obvious things like that. :/

Dude if I deleted a bank with 25 presets and no backup I'd just rage delete the whole thing and never use it again lol...nah I feel your pain!

Chris, I just tried a few patches from your new bank. The strings are very inspiring: in fifteen minutes, I had ideas for two songs. I bought Nave within an hour of its coming out, but this was the first time I actually "needed" to record something out of it. (Then it was time to make coffee for someone who had just woken up downstairs.) Thank you again. I look forward to trying more patches from this bank.

Thanks! That's awesome to hear. There will definitely be more orchestral-ish stuff added, I'm a sucker for all things orchestral sounding stuff. The last string sound I made "string quartus" is just a barely 10 millisecond (0.010 sec) sample, which was low qual to begin with. But thanks to whatever hokus pokus Nave does with the samples it sounds kinda real-ish. Also the solo voice (also used in the two voice-pads) are also just a few milliseconds of sound. But that's one of the things that's so fun with it, building realistic sounding things from basically nothing.

Anyway, more strings and horns, but something wind/flute-ish stuff will most likely be added to balance out the orchestral sounds a bit. Would love to do crazy folkish flutes of all kinds, and more exotic string instruments like Erhu or similar. Just gotta learn how to do it lol

Only synth I start with an init and end with something unique.
And I mean unique in a sense that the timbre of the wavetables mean a tonal character exclusive to this synth
