Anyone having trouble installing the demo? Tried several times and yes I have restarted my comp, re-downloaded the installer package and all that. Using Windows 7 Home if that helps any.

oh yeah such a big improvement ...ffs it's exactly the same GUi just different colourscheme.electro wrote:The new one is such a big improvement over the Black GUI.
I personally prefer dark panel synths .
just like all the classic analog synths which had black panels and black knobs (and still remains the most popular format!).
i'm not into bright/silver/spaceshuttle trance GUIs.
i have 4 monitors....2 good ips, 1 shitty tnt, tablet.....there wasn't any issue with contrast on the old GUI (don't know why djwhatever reported that). the black GUI was infact well executed in terms of contrast ..
some people prefer this

and some other (with trashy taste) prefer this

It is not exactly a universal synthKriminal wrote:Ive also got a load of presets i havent sent over....but i dont think a synth like this really needs hundreds of sounds.

The dark Minitaur is not ideal, either, though. For instance the knob shadows covering the labels, that is really stupid.
Actually, in this case I prefer the light skin. If it were the same size as the black one, its usability would be even better.

It's also very much a non-issue in real life.fluffy_little_something wrote:For instance the knob shadows covering the labels, that is really stupid.

Love this one too..
Reviewed it for my blog.. Www. Blog.deckwrecka.com
It's simplicity is key to its greatness, think the sound and tone are spot on...
RRecommended for sure..

i know the minitaur knobs suck (i hate the dotted knobs) ....i just chose it as an example cos it's being offered in black or white.fluffy_little_something wrote: I have seen several software synths with such knobs...
for good black GUis with good clear black knobs/sliders look at pro-one , polyvoks, arp2600, ms20, moog prodigy, prophet 5 etc etc.....or the former bassline101 GUI ;P
anyway....we derailed the thread enough...lets cut it here.

Well, there will probably be lots of updates during the next couple of months, just like with the U-NO-LX after its launch. Its skin color was changed in version 2 if I remember correctly.

I don't think I'd like to make a direct comparison to Lush. It does so much more than Tal's synth.
However, If I wanted a simple Sh-101 emulation I'd probably go for TAL. Two reasons, the high end doesn't get as sharp or harsh as Lush and TAL is just what it says a 101 emulation, Lush does a lot more and that can also be distracting.
When you use a synth as simple was Bassline, especially since it has a sequencer, you just produce different results.
I also prefer Basslines' GUI although I feel like I want to apply photoshop image sharpening or something. It's a bit blurry to my eyes.
Cant say I'd personally choose one over the other, Lush has a supersaw after-all! I'd be happier with both. Even though I don't feel that is a huge difference in sound besides the more forward high end of Lush vs the darker tone of TAL I do prefer the sounds I end up getting from TAL as I don't have to avoid certain areas in order to avoid the harsh high end of Lush.

And you've stated your personal taste as if it was some kind of fact.........olikana wrote:all about taste
Anyway I like the light GUI but the synth demo itself left me uninspired most likely because I have so many other synths already. I'd love to see Patrick focus his considerable talents on something new instead of emulating old synths....just my personal taste....

I kind of felt the same way, although i liked what i heard and appreciated the presence of the sequencer.Teksonik wrote:

Oh, it's out? Aweseome.
Hmm, arpeggiator "as played" mode seems to play notes the wrong way around.
Also, the velocity to envelope slider seem not to be working as expected; the velocity to envelope slider seems to add envelope modulation to the VCF, even when the VCF section has its envelope depth set to 0 (rather than affecting the envelope depth relative to the VCF envelope depth setting, which I was expecting). It also behaves weird when playing the arp / sequencer, and is set to or near its maximum value - but perhaps I'm missing something? (Off to RTFM...)

Hi there, "djwhatever" here. Actually I didn't "report" it. I suggested it to Patrick, as a beta tester, since there was no contrast between the background and the knobs / sliders and he agreed with me. He told me that he wouldn't change it unless he ended up preferring the lighter GUI, and it turns out that he did.olikana wrote:don't know why djwhatever reported that)
