And I think you are heavily mistaken in that opinion.

Seems to me that a true lover of synths loves the fresh, the new and the classics. Being easily impressed has nothing to do with it. Different people like different synths and that's about all really. I love TAL's stuff and would love to see him do something more complex but I'm more than happy with both UNO-LX and BassLine-101.

And here we have a guy with FOUR Juno-60s, who isn't easily impressed by synths, and who indeed is a true lover of synths. So all Teksonik's arguments are countered now. :D

Post

Can hardly argue about taste anyway. For me a MS-20 sounds like utter cr**, for others it's the holy grail of classic synthesizers. :) Saying that, Roland synths sound pretty good to me though.

Need to brush up on those programming skills? :P

Post

Well, i doubt even with better programming skills i'd be able to make it sound good... all IMO of course.

Sure, TAL's synths are based on simple synths, but I suppose that is why they are so cheap, they cost just one forth of Diva each.

Still, I agree with those saying TAL should do an original synth for a change. But maybe he will simply take some time off once Bassline has matured. Maybe he even has a life :D

thats the point. if you alone dont like it, it isn't good in general.
whats that for an argumentation?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Look around! Every developer under the sun is already doing that and Patrick is the only one doing this.

I end up getting more out of TAL's "simpler" emulations than the ultra sophisticated new stuff with 500 variable parameters per synth.

There are many who appreciate what Patrick has accomplished with his skills and bear in mind he is not emulating garbage, but precisely reproducing proven synthesizers that have contributed to decades of Platinum masters.
Jesus calm down. First of all in my opinion he is emulating garbage. I owned a Juno 60 and don't think it is worth emulating. I've never owned a 101 but again I'm not impressed enough to think it's worth spending any time emulating....
Just because greater Analog Polysynths exist doesn't automatically make Juno 60 a Garbage synth. It is very capable with its fat onboard chorus and is perfect for running into other FX.

Here is the point, With the ability to load 10+ softsynths in any project, not every synth has to be capable of everything. I can easily get a great heavy synth Bass tone out of TAL-Uno-LX, a monster Pad out of DIVA and sharp simple lead out of TAL-Bassline 101.

Where does one insert the serial to make this a registered copy? I did so for the UNO-LX, but I forgot how it was done.

+1 I agree with you here.

Even if 101 was freeware, I wouldn't have rushed to check it out.

I feel I got so much of this kind of sound/equipment already.

For emu's would be great to see TAL approach other 80's Roland equipment, for example the D-50, which so far haven't got a dedicated emulation.

Post

D-50 will never get a dedicated emulation because the sample ROM is copyrighted by Roland. There was that Reaktor ensemble which got pulled off the Interwebz because of Roland's C&D letter.

I'd definitely like a Jup-8 from TAL.
