Judging from this sh vs tal example

To me it sounds like it lacks in "punch" compared to original, I guess it's an envelope related. Something with loudness contour the way sound starts and ends, original sounds more sharp and precise.
It's always for me like this, when I hear a direct comparison of original vs emulation, or like diva vs monark, monark has that thing, which makes it sound more sharp and precise.
I'm not here to start some heated debates, it just an opinion. Most of you won't even notice that, so it's out of the equation for you anyways and you'll think that I'm raving

As a synth, it sounds good and has that acid thing to it.

Nobody can do an unlicensed D-50 softsynth because the PCM content needed to duplicate the factory patches is copyrighted by Roland. TubeOhm Vintage is supposedly based on the LASS Synthesis used by the D-50.

Sorry for the OT - but I have a faint memory that there was a JD800 ensemble with a similar fate. Damn I didn't make a backup of that one. It was actually the first plugin/instrument I ever bought.

Yeah... what is that? As an analog synth owner (nothing too great or vintage) I hear exactly what you're talking about. It's like the attack has a... I call it "pregnancy," that software has trouble with. I don't have Monark though, and I probably won't get it until Komplete 10. I didn't see a reason to upgrade to 9.

Probably the whole loudness contour thing is much more complicated than it seems and while modelling it, there's something usually missed like it was with filters before 0DF filters. Some "springiness", "playability" is missing.
Have no clue what it is, but it sounds more "precise" the way whole sound stars and ends, as if it had a beautiful curvature while the whole thing happens, compared to software's plain "hairy" brutal execution.

That's how I see it, though I'm fully aware that for most this is not an issue and is not noticeable at all and I can use it without complains either, it just that I hear it and the way I hear it.

Played with it a little more and found the following things:

- The sequencer is missing the original 'Play to End, Then Transpose', where the transposition happens only upon sequence restart rather than immediately after pressing the key.

- If Full Range Envelope is enabled, and the envelope intensity is set to full 100%, the sequencer no longer triggers the envelope. (Its OK to ca. 99%, then it dies.)

- The LFO exhibits strong phase shifting/drifting even when hostsynced. Audio demonstration here. Sequencer was hostsynced 1/16 (90BPM), LFO was hostsynced 1/8. If Trig is enabled, and a key is pressed, sync is usually restored for a moment, then it starts drifting off again. If sequencer Hold is enabled, sync is practically never restored on a new note even with Trig enabled. (Hit and Miss.)
