Very interesting with the different views on the new voting system. Would be useful to hear from others too so please share your views.

Fantastic songs from Feldspar, a great free synth this month. I especially enjoyed the songs of Carl Saved and _CTX.

I feel your pain - 41 entries is a lot. I don't think the contest could support too many more entrants with this style of voting without putting a pretty big burden on the participants.

Wish I were around in the days of 10-20 entries

Understandable, and the other side of the coin with this system, although even with the old system one would have to rate the songs in a way to find the top 5. Still early days though, let's see how it goes for a few comps and then have a vote on it again.

This is sorta what my point was: I don't want to vote for every song, but rather have the option to give more than 5 tracks points. I would just skip ones that would naturally fall on 0, but now we have to click a lot. I won't have free time for a few weeks, maybe I can figure out something to give clickable ratings in the not too distant future...

I just voted!

Yeah the voting system is pretty long, one thing that I'll do while listening is just go to the group and start playing the tracks 1 by 1, and then write a 1-5 number down for each one, then I'll go back, match up the songs and fill out the voting forms. I dunno, it made things a bit easier for me.

Nonetheless, great job to everyone this contest! I'm all tranced out, you guys made some awesome sounds/songs.

But with the old voting system, you would have voted? Isn't that strange? In my opinion, deciding your top 5 requires you to listen to all tracks, isn't it? Otherwise, how can you decide what 5 tracks are the best if you didn't listen to all tracks.

So basically, there is not a lot of more work to do with this new voting system. You listen to a track.. (like you already did before this new voting rule) and after listening you decide for yourself how much points you want to reward this track, and go to the next track. Easy as pie!

Same here. I just voted with one point to my track, and from 2 to 4 to the rest, and i think just one or two tracks with 5 points.

Which is one of the reasons that this is such a bad system. First, person A's '1' might be person B's '2' which is a problem before we consider external factors such as "did the voter enter the contest."

Now, however, because you're allowing people to vote for their own tracks, you've almost guaranteed that there will be additional differences. Voters that don't enter will more than likely use the entire spread. That is, I'm not going to use 2 as the default, clearly 1 is the default.

None of this makes sense since you are just summing points. Just don't count the points that each submitter assigns to his own track.

This is easy, just start by giving every song a point. That's your zero, now start listening.
