Great! I fixed some bugs in the scheme, will include it in next release.
I was quite busy last week, so no updates yet.

Thank you :), it looks a bit like sytrus

The patch problem occurs only if you insert a new instance of blue arp. not in previosly saved projects. strange.. open a empty template, instert bluearp (it shows patch 51) and a synth. select a patch in the arp or edit 51. than switch between them in the stepseq window. bluearp jumps always to patch 51.
hope this helps you.

Yes, I get the exact same behavior in Reaper.

Sorry for delay, I had a vacation.

Oops... Seems like I mixed up something with versions. I see the error, will fix it soon.

Here's a quick fix
http://www.graywolf2004.net/files/BlueARP_v1.12rc2.zip

Looks like factory bank fxb file was somehow broken. I didn' find the reason, but with 1.12rc1 the same error happens to me, not it's fixed.
PS. There are 2 new order algorithms "chord, normalized" and "chord, as played" - they don't wotk yet. I forgot to hide them after experimenting.

vacation is a good idea.. :-)
Nice to see a update, thanks.
what do you think about a note-devider for each step?

It seems I made a big mistake as I spent my money to all the commercial arpeggiator VSTs which current are available on the market ...

These days it's extremely rarely to encounter a developer which is as user-friendly and open to user wishes as you here, that's really great!

I found this thread coincidentally and I read it completely ... and now I'm really impressed and I will test this BlueArp arpeggiator, too.

PS: Sorry, my english is not the best!

Post

I tested BlueArp, and it's a nice plugin and easy to use! The manual and the videos are fine, too!

But I have a problem and some ideas:

My system:

FL Studio 9.1
Win7 64 Bit
RME HDSPe AIO

BlueArp: v1.12 rc2

-- problem:

If I load the BlueArp plugin and create an arp phrase, it works fine. But if I hide the BlueArp plugin for example by clicking the MISC function in the FL Studio channel settings or by jumping to another plugin ... and then if I go back to the BlueArp GUI, the Arp automatically initializes itself! So my arp pattern and settings in BlueArp are all initialized if I leave the BlueArp GUI and come back!

I tried to copy the pattern first to save it in my memory before leaving, but if I come back I can't paste it because it seems to be deleted from my memory, too.

-- idea 1: polyphonic steps

it would be great to put one step above the other to create some user chords in the sequence with only some of the notes, too. That is one thing which is really nice in Catanya for example!

-- idea 2: chord memory

now I'm using another midi plugin with a chord memory and I chain it with BlueArp like that:

- midi chord memory plugin output = Port 1
- BlueArp Input = Port 1
- BlueArp Output = Port 2
- target VST Synth input = Port 2

and it seems that chain is working good (except the initialize problem), what is really great because not all midi plugins stay stable with midi chains like that!

But with an integrated chord memory I could avoid that additional chain! And if that chord memory could load .chord files, too, then it would be amazing because then it would be possible to load 88 or more chords directly on my 88 keys keyboard and with that possibility this BlueArp machine could play a whole opera without chaining directly ...and with a simple one finger game!

-- idea 3: more steps in one window

We have big displays today so it could be possible to make that plugin broader and then there would be more space for more steps? Especially if using a faster arp sync that would be nice?

-- idea 4: finer grid settings

to create half or quarter steps, too, for rolls without changing the arp sync settings ... I don't know any arpeggiator which has that possibility, so this could be a nice special feature?

-- idea 5: pattern song sequencer with midi drag and drop

of course this is a big thing but especially in FL Studio it is not possible to record midi out data directly to the piano roll or? So, a pattern song sequencer with midi export / drag and drop would be really great! And this ist still one feature only some plugins are offering, Thesys can do this for example!

-- Conclusion:

This is a very nice freeware plugin and it offers some features which other commercial plugins don't offer! It has a nice workflow and is easy to understand for me. Except the initialize problem it seems to work stable.

Great work and thank you very much for that! But if you like, you can bring it to a higher level, too ...

hi, i reported this some treads before. you can avoid this, if you do a template with bluearp inside. Then you can switch the channels and bluearp recognize the settings. be sure, graywolf will fix it soon.
this plugin is great litle tool with much potencial. :)

my wish is a finer velocity raster and note devider

thank you, I will try this!

And yes, it's really a nice plugin and good programmed! Except that one problem it runs very stable here!

EDIT:

Another question:

Is it possible to copy one part 16 steps to the next part? For example:

steps 1-16 to steps 17-32

Post

Edit: I was making a feature request but I realized mot of it is already available.

I'm going to restate part of it, though---right clicking directly on blocks to being a drop down menu would be a very nice feature to speed up the process. For instance, right clicking on a "type" block to turn it off or right clicking on a long block to break it up into smaller ones or make it longer. Either that or just allowing click-drag to resize block lengths would be nice. Adding right click/drop down to the other grid block types too might make it easier to edit more quickly and directly.

But I'll echo what was said: it's already a very nice plug-in so thanks to graywolf for offering it free!

ZXOxo67, clipnotic, A.M. Gold - thanks for suggestions. I have no time this weekend, but I'll read them carefully and think of it later.
This weekend I will only fix patch reset issue (I wonder how I passed this huge bug :( ).

My comments on your ideas ;)

-- idea 1: polyphonic steps
I was thinking of it too. It's possible to make steps polyphinic. It reqires to modify patch structure and midi engine. But here problem arise - octave and semitone transpose will affect all keys.
Anyway, I'll try this and see how it works.

-- idea 2: chord memory
This thing has limited usage imho, and there's a workaround of using another plugin connected. So I don't want to load bluearp with this feature.

-- idea 3: more steps in one window
Unfotrunatelly, VST2 specification doesn't allow plugin window resize (VST3 allows although). Anyway, there's a page scrolling.

-- idea 4: finer grid settings
Kirnu has this thing (it's called 'step divide' as I remember). It's for rolls only I think, so it's quite limited usage too. What I was thinking about is how to make possible to mix 16th steps with 12th for electro bass lines - it's not possoble to do this way.
As a partial solution, I want to implement patterns, where you can chain several arp sequences together.

-- idea 5: pattern song sequencer with midi drag and drop
Too complex at this point. Maybe later...
