ingo your reply eludes completely what i said.
my point is that there's absolutely nothing special about being able to make a synthbrass with bassline101 .
this is the synthbrass patch i posted in the previous page

as you can see all shapes and pwm and chorus were used too.
nothing special though. not something that requires an "elite sound designer" or "special skills" as you try to put across .that's my point

Olikana's example above is certainly better than most of those trashy DX7 brass sounds, but still far from real brass, which I love a lot by the way as I grew up listening to the early Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool and the Gang, etc., who used to have famous horn sections.
Synthesized emulations of accoustic instruments are valued for being a variant (usually a simplified, generalized) of the parent sound. In much the same way as a cartoon or sketched trumpet differs from a picture of a trumpet.

I know at least one* person whose favourite synthsound is the synth brass. He's into prog rock if that makes it any more believable :). They don't do a whole lot for me, unless used in certain conditions, but my point is that things don't have to be realistic to be good.

One of my favourite "tricks" to do on this synth is to set the LFO to noise, and introduce a TINY bit of pitch modulation. Magic. You can then use the "/\/ MOD" slider in the PITCH/MOD section to bring in a typical triangle wave vibrato with ye olde modwheel. Two LFO's for the price of one :)

Interestingly, the PWM slider also doles out a triangle wave always, regardless of waveform selection, which is sometimes bad (when you want to use sawtooth or noise modulation to pulsewidth), but sometimes good (because, as above, you can get two LFO waveforms for the price of one).

Tested the demo on my system and I'm getting tons of stuck notes when playing the presets.

Cubase 7 32 bit, Win 7 64 bit.
music // twolegs // geometriae
sounddesign // twolegstoneworks

Stuck as in computer overload? I had that as well, especially in poly mode...

btw my synthbrass patch above is kinda fail cos it doesn't cater for vibrato which is important for brass playability(and with that modulator amount it would simply be too slow) .also oscillator "snap to note" is on (didn't even notice ) which makes the brass sound a bit "digital".
anyway to fix it for vibrato just put the Modulator around 60% ,and to compensate for consequent higher pwm modulation, lower the PW a bit to about mid value. if the sound has got too dark increase cut off some or rebalance VCO shapes a bit.
set amount pitch/mod modulation wheel to taste then cheese away with vibrato

I just created a PDF with screenshots and a very short description for all 32 patches:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... 7.2013.pdf

This could be useful for people that want to use the patches with a real SH-101 (while some were programmed for polyphonic use) or those whop could not load the patches with the demo version (and for other uses...).

Also added this to my new thread (which includes the download for the patches):

Nope. Hardly any hit on the cpu. It's like when I start to play a note the 101 starts to play another note and keeps that note sustained until I switch to the next preset, then the story continues..

demo feature perhaps??

Glad that synth does not have a tabbed user interface, eh? ;)

I think the only demo restriction is that you can't save your presets... must be a bug.

No, others would already have complained about it if it were a demo feature.

Lucky you, at least it is not heavy on your CPU. Seems my computer is just too weak for that kind of plugin :(

A bad one too.. a complete showstopper.

You could report it here if you want: http://kunz.corrupt.ch/support/index I'm pretty sure they'd nail it out quickly, if they can reproduce it on their machines.
