Why not start a new thread called 'what we want from TAL' or 'unrelated ego trips down memory lane' and leave this thread on topic...

Looked in lovely nick as well. What a gorgeous looking synth.

Gee, this really is a marvellous synth. I don't even miss my SH101 anymore. Really, all the benefits of software (instant recall, endless instances - people forget that) and a sound that puts a boyish grin on my face :)

* The bassline sounds brighter with the filters opened up all the way.
* The bassline consumers less CPU when used in poly mode and using the TAL chorus then on the TAL-U-NO-LX. Even when the patch settings are identical. What's that about.
What!

Don't all basslines sound brighter with the low pass filter completely open?

Really nice synth but I did notice that it won't hold the selected preset in Reaper after a save. :-o

That seems to be a demo restriction... Which is not good if you just bought it of course! ;)

It really is a physically beautiful synthesizer to me. The flashes of colour afforded by the buttons really brings it to life without it being garish. Often UI designers fall into the trap of too much colour or (more commonly) a colour scheme so dull it fails to inspire in the slightest (case in point, the synth under the Jupe).

The odd thing is that when the JP-6 first arrived the JP-8 looked horribly old fashioned and positively garish with all that orange. A couple of years later when the JX-10 hit the shops I thought I had seen the most beautiful synthesiser. And with a matching programmer that used magnets to stick to the front panel. Perfect.

These days I think they're all great.

Did a quick comparison between the BassLine-101 and LuSH-101 - from a producer point of view.

The LuSH-101 has a lot more features, but when compared on equal terms, I must say they sound amazingly similar. Is this good or bad.. well.. it's down to the GUI size and what features you need to get a certain sound nailed when you need it.

BassLine-101 offers less features, but it's easier to program IMO, simply because it's easier to see what you do. LuSH-101 has more options and is without a shred of doubt the ultimate SH101 emu available, but for getting that typical SH101 sound for your layered bass, or that particular analog SH101 lead-sound, BassLine-101 does the trick - faster. It's not better than LuSH-101, but it's just as good when compared on equal terms, with the extra plus that it's got a GUI that's a tad more userfriendly.

A LOT more user friendly, I'd say.
