Just checking can you take an audio in from a guitar on the io dock or any device like the istudio play it and manipulate the audio in turnado?

Yes, it's a fun real time dsp, though the controls are ludicrous and not very subtle. Along this line are the other apps such as 'AudioEffects' and 'AudioFilter' as well as 'Samvada,' 'Voice mod,' and 'Filtatron.' Some are for guitar some for any I/O.

Filltron is for none of the above. After all this time, Moog still hasn't added Audiobus support, and it can not take a live input.evesixtynine wrote:Yes, it's a fun real time dsp, though the controls are ludicrous and not very subtle. I don't mind the controls too much. Turnado is the best multi-fx app I've seen on iPad. Really a lot of fun for the price. It's like a Kaoss pad on steroids.

IMO, a persons DAW should have the bread and butter utilities like "per channel" EQ & compression, and at least one bus for reverb and/or delay. Those in-DAW effects better be good quality too.
It would be nice for the DAW to have an additional bus that acts like an insert, linked to the effects slot of Audiobus for selective processing.
All the other specialty effects would best be handled in an app that works from the effects slot of Audiobus. Which to me includes reverbs and delays, but with character.
If these effects are not of great quality, then they are useless for recording regardless of how "fun" they are to play with.
DM-1 is a good example of an app that offers lots of unusual effects to apply to beats, but they are just not up to the job, unless you want that 8-bit emulation.

You can use filtatron for dsp you just need to tweak it.

Please explain how to use it for processing anything other than pre recorded audio.evesixtynine wrote:You can use filtatron for dsp you just need to tweak it.

I haven't messed with it in ages since I decided the earphone jack clicked and quirked anytime my Griffin guitar thingy moved.
But, the very first knob under 'main' says 'line' and does refer to 'line in.' That and the sampler knobs must be tweaked and you can use the samples and vco to control the amount of effect. It's pretty trippy. This may not be the first use for this while running a synth through is probably the real essence of the app. But it does work.

Filtatron doesn't take live input. Hmm, must have been dreaming when I was playing around in my car using the microphone. So you saying it won't actually use any proper audio interfaces and just the onboard microphone??

You need one of the line in interfaces to use an instrument. Doesn't matter which line instrument you do - better interfaces use the docking port. The headphone jack crackles and will make you pitch a fit. I don't care if you're on dope or not it'll bring you down.
