I'm thinking one solution would be to have people log in to some system (kvr could be easiest) then we can save state of your votes - and you can edit them.
It could look similar to the soundcloud group page, but with an 'ajax' style 5 star slider, a comment box for an optional mini review, and the soundcloud player.
That way you could go home from work, open up the page, everything is saved, and listen to a few songs each day, rate them.
Also sorting your rated songs. You could change the values later on as well.
Not sure if you can do logins in google pages, but having it right there on the one synth page would be kinda nice

I tried to spread them across the scale - so my least favorites got 1, and most favorites got 5, even though the "1"s were not that bad. I imagine the best stuff will come to the top regardless of how people vote though.

Is there anything from the SoundCloud competition app we could use do you think?bjporter wrote:I'm thinking one solution would be to have people log in to some system (kvr could be easiest) then we can save state of your votes - and you can edit them.

I think voting system is great. It's really stimulates you to listen all music, and vote after you did it. Like Olympic games system - voting just after performance.

This is interesting. I imagine all we'd need is a way to integrate google docs, to pass info there?V'ger wrote: Is there anything from the SoundCloud competition app we could use do you think?

V'ger as a quick hack, can you use a script to take all the soundcloud players and embed them into the vote form? So
[song 1 player]
[score]
[song 2]
[score]
...
[SUBMIT]
[song 1 player]
[score]
[song 2]

...
[SUBMIT]

No doesn't seem to be possible..
Integration with Google Documents is not essential, one can always just take the final results and put them in one at the end for record keeping purposes, so if something else is better suited it's just as well to use that.

My academic background perhaps but I attempted to grade on a curve with the majority, the average even among very fine entries, getting a 3 (= C in the old grading system). Trying to distinguishing the 4s from the 5s, 3s from 4s, etc is difficult. Maybe with practice it gets easier but we are talking about creative projects: that's why the system was pass/fail when I went to art school.solidtrax wrote:But with the old voting system, you would have voted? Isn't that strange? In my opinion, deciding your top 5 requires you to listen to all tracks, isn't it? Otherwise, how can you decide what 5 tracks are the best if you didn't listen to all tracks.bftucker wrote:
Did not vote...Too conscientious to take voting lightly but apparently not dedicated enough to attempt to rate each of the 41 entries. My apologies.
Thanks to all who participated.
So basically, there is not a lot of more work to do with this new voting system. You listen to a track.. (like you already did before this new voting rule) and after listening you decide for yourself how much points you want to reward this track, and go to the next track. Easy as pie!
