of course you can: You can just pitch them, like Phalanx does.I disagree and it's not just vocals. The are many sounds I would want to play in a different key and I can't cause the sampler has no stretch tech,
Take for example Phalanx' (init) saw sample. Its just a few kb of size
Its perfectly looped and when you turn the aliasing filter on, you will have a really good quality on every key, like a saw from a synth. Try this with timestretch, it will destroy your whole saw completely already after +/- 5 semitones. So pitching is by far the better solution for playing samples chromatically.

Couldn't have said it better myself.TheoM wrote:Kontakt has always made me dizzy.. Not only is it fugly, it's also all over the place. I only use it cause I have to to run my kontakt libraries.

Damn straight... I have it, and never use it anymore. Not since I bought Mach 5.TheoM wrote:Not only is it fugly, it's also all over the place. I only use it cause I have to to run my kontakt libraries.

Theo I'm sure you've seen this but 'timestretching' (and I use the word loosely here) can be achieved by setting a small loop section and then change the start offset, watch here from 03:55:
Kontakt can do the same.

This it man... That's why I still keep it - for some excellent 3rd party stuff.TheoM wrote:Well thankfully some of the third party libraries use their own gui and the couple i have are outstanding, but i couldn't bear to create or edit my own sounds in it
Phalanx looks fresh and inviting.. kontakt is SOOO drab and uninspiring.

good joke! if you try to compare this with kontakt you dont get the concept behind? this "sampler" is more like battery not like kontakt for multisamples etc. this isn't a sampler that have to see the light in 2013 and it's overpriced: 16 pads hold 2 samples and people here start to compare it with a monster like kontakt. LOL
ps. demos are terri(wo)bble btw.

It looks like Metrum has received a nice update fixing some bugs and adding the browser from Phalanx.
Given the fact that I find Metrum and Multiband Compressor indispensable, I'll definitely have to give Phalanx a try as soon as the demo is out.

I think you've missed our point entirely. We are certainly not comparing this to Kontack or the Motu. The conversation has drifted in that direction, and I'm simply agreeing with Theo's point on Kontact's usability.murnau wrote:good joke! if you try to compare this with kontakt you dont get the concept behind? this "sampler" is more like battery not like kontakt for multisamples etc. this isn't a sampler that have to see the light in 2013 and it's overpriced: 16 pads hold 2 samples and people here start to compare it with a monster like kontakt. We didn't SAY that this was like one of the 'monster samplers'. Of course, it is something like Geist or Battery. LOL
