Hmm... I'm very happy with Kontakt 5 and think it's still the monster in this department. Only judging because of the video I have no big interest for this plug-in. Maybe I missed some "killer feature" or some "must have things" with Phalanx?

Thanks angelremington! Why is this on facebook but not on their website and not on G+. Neither did I get an email or anything. I loathe FB that's the last place I'd be looking aaarrghhhh

we do our whole news announcements via FB

but I just put it on google+, too (google+ is quite "dead" compared to FB

I think you've missed our point entirely. We are certainly not comparing this to Kontack or the Motu. The conversation has drifted in that direction, and I'm simply agreeing with Theo's point on Kontact's usability.

We didn't SAY that this was like one of the 'monster samplers'. Of course, it is something like Geist or Battery. LOL

first it's named kontakt and not kontack or kontact.
the main thing is: it's not fair (or should i say plain wrong) to compare kontakt's usability with this one-shot-sampleplayer. this makes absolute no sense to me. kontakt is complex we all know.

it's like you say: hey it's great to read tolkien but the last rowling was way easier to read. whats exactly your point then?

Thanks msvs! Finally got it up and running in S1 without crashing (so far). Some of the samples sound full and well balanced with instant satisfaction, nice work.
(I would describe G+ as the less drama crowd compared to FB

)

To me they are completely different beasts, Kontakt and Phalanx. It seems to me that Phalanx has a different focus and is very easy and quick to use. You won't use multisampled gigalibraries with Phalanx. A bit like Abletons Simpler. I own Kontakt but I mostly use Simpler for my sample needs unless I need to use some big libraries and such. It's just so intuitive and quick to use, and seems like Phalanx has bit of the same approach. Can't wait to demo it!

A feature comparison to Kontakt or Machfive would be a moronic. A time comparison and mouseclick count of setting up a simple 16 pad sample bank with keyboard zone on the other hand, Phalanx wins. It's different concepts for different outcomes really.

Again you've yet still missed the point... WE were talking about Kontakt, and not putting their sampler in the same context. I was THEN saying to Theo (or implying) that he should give Mach 5 a try, as it's very ez to use. What has that got to do with Phalanx? I even compared it to Geist or Battery in my last post for you. Too complex??

Oh and by the way, if you want to nit pick about writing, it's 'Tolkien and Rowling'... You need to use a capital letter... Haw haw.
