Yes, de-essing is a typical application for a multiband compressor.

Interesting. After I read this thread, I got a JRR Shop email featuring a Blue Cat sale of 25% off, plus an additional 15% in the cart for Blue Cat plugs.

Coincidence? Hmmmm.

In any event, this may be just what some are looking for.

I think BlueCat Audio is as underdog in the audio plug-in world as it gets.

Why? Their GUIs are boring (they remind me of Sonnox only darker) and they don't build hype for their products. They don't push their innovations hard enough through "Web 2.0". There needs to be a build up prior to product launch.

Tease us! Drop hints here and there. Audio samples on message boards...Steven Slate of Slate Digital is an excellent example of this type of social media marketing, which is essential in this niche market.

It's a shame that they're undervalued too because like TheoM said they deserve more attention for the quality they put out.

Thanks for the feedback.
@TheoM: external side chain is definitely on the list. However, for one frequency dependant band, you will soon not need it anymore, because of this:

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil
