One more shot at informing you people about Blue Cat Dynamics 2013-05-04T01:15:09+00:00 Hi, an attempt a year ago failed to generate any buzz. no replies. I am floored. I am going to say it straight up: This is the ultimate swiss army knife, and i really made a mistake buying the sonnox.. i did not need it. I want you guys not to miss out on what i think (overall) is the best dynamics plugin in the world. There, i said it. I am not talking simplified specialist tools like an LA2A.. those will always have their place for me for easy control and colour.. this is more of an everything plugin and i go to it when i have complex dynamics needs. It's uber clean, and it's basically a mini compassion. That's how i think of it. This was the first one designed that does everything.. no buzz.. compassion comes and 100 pages.. totally unfair. You have no idea the flexibility of this thing till you try it. There is SO MUCH it can do. Please humour me and demo it but give it some time to learn it. Imagine doing everything (ok not as much as compassion) but with total and utter intuitiveness. Upwards and downwards compression AND expansion (with uber ease). Hard Gating. Soft Gating. Ultra fast attack or uber slow and *everything* in between. Zero latency at all times WITH 2 stages of oversampling options. Brick wall limiter. Frequency selective compression. As in, you choose the frequencies TO compress (like a single band of a multi band comp) Parallel. a unique hold function for the comp that i have only ever seen on the sonnox. Fully skinnable. Default gui is cool and a really nice alternative available. Decent cpu Decent price with a special here or there. Mid/Side VCA to Opto styles with a smooth slider in between the styles to really fine tune the compression Similar full range slider to go between peak and RMS (which means everything in between) There is also a low and high cut filter which is audible, like in an EQ, although i don't get why it's there.. it's to change the sound, not to change the trigger (well changing the sound will, but you know what i mean) the ONLY thing it is lacking is a sidechain and for the love of God i do not know why Blue hasn't added one yet, but apparently it has some sort of midi side chain function i have never really tried.. and i must do that.. but Blue insists it is on the list. I am perplexed as to why every dynamics plug in on the planet can generate buzz and this hasn't, and it's THAT good. it can be really smooth, or really, really brutal. I mean it has an attack time of zero, hold of zero, and release of 0, for example, but goes to five THOUSAND millisecond, yep five full seconds for each of those also. And of course, everything in between. Oh and you can type values and it's accurate to the decimal point. Yep, you can have an attack of 4005.6 ms. For example. :lol: I remember, i caved in and bought izotope nectar for the de breather, but out of every gate i tried, and i mean around 15 of them, this was the only one that could remove the breath with hardly any artefacts or removing the wrong thing. Just an example. Ok it doesn't have a transient designer on board, but i can't think of anything else it can't do, seriously. It is my secret weapon but once more i wanted to share it with you guys.. I won't try again after this, but you owe it to yourselves. (and Blue for their incredible work) PS some preset skins can turn it into a processor focused on a simple task you want to do, rather than the main "everything" default interface. Like a basic comp.
