cool!
Thanks very much for the comments and the listen, mrblitz. Glad you liked it :)

At risk of being controversial, I think the "Wilder Years" probably produced my favourite DM albums, although I really liked Ultra.

You know ... er ... um ... a little bit. Probably 1dB or less. Unfortunately, while I often have a clear impression that something is too loud or soft, I can never quantify the amount precisely in decibels. I have to move the faders until it sounds right.

I think all of the bass parts could be a little louder. I am not actually expecting you to remix it. I am just giving some extra feedback in case you were on the fence about the levels. It sounds pretty good as it stands.
I'll try to tweak these a little on Sunday, see how it turns out.
Ok. I re-levelled the arp, lead and the two bass instruments earlier today. the changes were subtle but noticeable. The spek plots show a little more low end and slightly less high end where it counts. I didn't touch the mastering chain.

The latest version is on SoundCloud at the same URL. The original is still on kiwi6

I previously downloaded the original MP3 from SoundCloud so I can make an apples to apples comparison of the two MP3s encoded at 320Kbps. Subtle but noticeable is a very good way of describing the differences.

I definitely prefer the new version. The bass is now solid throughout instead of submerged. The arp and lead no longer overwhelm the other instruments. Everything is clear and very well balanced.

Excellent tune with an excellent mix. What more could you ask for? :tu:

Keep em coming.
Thanks for listening and for the great comments, fate. Glad you liked it :D

The next one is a little different.

My thoughts exactly. Interesting choice of tools to work with, proving you don't have to spend mega bucks
to do great production work.
Thanks very much for the listen and the comments, Gary. Glad you liked it :)

Since I first recorded this, I have acquired some more expensive tools, but I keep coming back to these "free" synths and samplers. Maybe it's sentimentality, or maybe they're a lot more useful than people give them credit for.

It's strange, but these days, when I sketch out a new idea, more often than not, I find myself using CM101 or the EnergyXT synth to do it. Probably because they are the first synths I used and I am more familiar with getting a workable sound out of them.

Thanks very much for checking the new mix out, Frantz. I'm glad you preferred it to the older version. I was thinking about upping the bass levels a little anyway, so your original comment made the decision easier :)

Great start Tim. I like the synths, sounds a bit "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" in a great way. The choir/coral sounds are a nice touch. Then there is the prog element when it bursts into a strong urgent rhythm.

Great sounds throughout and well composed. Top work, ElectroProg at its best.

Wow, this is great. Love how it starts very smooth evolves into a slightly "harder" track.
