loony tunes u got when u set vari comp on vocal, instruments.. vc 2a on master synths like pads.. and vc160 to bass.. also remove transients by transient master.. that is immediate after-sound thing.... I use drum kits from maschine so I don't need vc76:)) use it....

seriously though, I think what you need to try is low passing your fader to 3 degrees off the tonal center, every fourth til you can' hear it anymore, if that makes sense. mybe in parallel. reverb with the wall is overhyped. at that time in music producing people fried their smelt instead of eating it raw. That was then. If you are bringing this to the studio, I hope you bring plenty of bags.
