Meh. I demoed Cream a lot and was reasonably impressed. But there's very little out there to explain what everything does. It's also a pain to program. Catanya, in comparison, has far fewer capabilities but is way, way more fun to play and much faster to program.
For me, having fun with an instrument is what leads to creation. With Cream it felt like I was in battle with it, not a partnership.

well some people just like to fiddle with a minimoog. some prefer a moog modular. the mini is in no way a match for a big modular. i'm a modular guy.

I just bought this thing (and I also own Catanya) and I don't find it difficult to program at all. I wouldn't have purchased it had I thought so — after all, one can spend a small fortune on difficult-to-program arps, right?
Personally, I think the video tutorials put out by Kirnu make it fairly easy to understand. Provided one is allowed to stop the video, reel it back, and say, Ok...WHAT? But the info is there. It's just a bit of a learning curve.
If Catanya started with its presets and then gave you powerful, musical ways to take them to new places, that would be a whole different ballgame, but I don't feel it does that.
I was disquieted recently by a remark I heard regarding presets, beyond using them as learning tools, rather trying to integrate the use of presets into one's actual workflow. The remark (I wish I could remember who said it, I'm tempted to think it was The Holy Eno
, but I'm unsure) was something along the lines of "once you start searching for presets to give you an idea, you're letting the machine dictate the direction of the music — you've reversed the idea of the machine being a tool of the artist." Something like that. Obviously, a statement like that needs lots of qualifiers, and absolutely one should grab ideas wherever one can and rework them as one sees fit, but still, the quote was disquieting to me. Anyway, It got me started in going much deeper into synths and synth programming, and that's a good thing, right?
And of course, whatever works for you is what you should use, needless to say. Just some thoughts.
But I'm digging this arp. I get the feeling the designers really want you to make better music, and more easily, and that's not an impression I get with other products. To each his or her own, though.
Cheers.

I love your post, especially because you are telling us something about a big moog modular but your username is "nexussynth" ...nexussynth wrote:well some people just like to fiddle with a minimoog. some prefer a moog modular. the mini is in no way a match for a big modular. i'm a modular guy.
Trust me, there is a BIG difference between a big moog modular and the Nexus synth ...
But well, I'm a workhorse guy. I'm sitting in my studio every day and I check new VSTs, create my own sounds and midi files ... as well I make music. For that I need products which are working fine and have a good manual to understand what they are able to do.
And now let's talk about Kirnu Cream:
a) there was a pre release phase
b) I got a good beta price
c) I bought it because I wanted to sponser the developers
d) now we have a full release 1.0.6
e) I'm trying that release now, like the others before
f) I can't chain Cream with other midi plugins because it becomes unstable
g) Notes are swallowed
h) it doesn't run tidy
i) with every loop, notes are changing even if I'm using only the up/down arp
...
Is that a finished product ??
I have other VST arps, too, and they are working stable!
With that "modular" Kirnu Cream in this condition I can't work unless I create a song which names "the super mega clumsy song" ...
Sorry, but that's what is happening now on my detailed music optimized system which is working fine with many other VST plugins and let me produce ideas, remixes and releases, too, without problems.
Many features are great and it's exciting to experiment ... but only if the features are working good!
Sorry, my english is not the best!

Indeed, in FL,it(Kirnu any way) seems to stop and start, sometimes, I've only briefly, demoed Cream, over all, Kirnu/Cream, is amazing, I'll buy it, at some point. I would like to see the FLS issues fixed, but may be, not many people have encountered themZXOxo67 wrote:its no mistake to buy it. a great tool.
it has some issues with loops. but if you know them, its easy to avoid this issues. (in fl, for example)
i think the kirnu team has a todo list with many fixes. and this bug will be fixed soon, im sure.

actually "nexus synth" has been a username for me long before the internet even happened. long before there was a product called "Nexus Synth"clipnotic wrote:I love your post, especially because you are telling us something about a big moog modular but your username is "nexussynth" ...nexussynth wrote:well some people just like to fiddle with a minimoog. some prefer a moog modular. the mini is in no way a match for a big modular. i'm a modular guy.

i'm an old graybeard who actually worked with a big Moog Modular III back in 1969. to all, i still say Kirnu Cream is a great plugin at a good price.

ok, then you are the real orginal nexus synth ...
And yes, Kirnu Cream is a great idea, it has many interesting features ... but it has too many bugs!
I'm a big VST customer and collector. I collect them, because I often create remixes and want to be compatible ...
Cthulhu:
I love that plugin, it has a great chord memory and works good. I found some little bugs and posted them to the Xfer Forum and got fast answer from the developer self. It has a very good and understandable workflow despite the fact that it has many features, too.
Catanya V1 and V2:
I have no problems, it works stable and tidy but is has too little features. It has a super easy workflow which is very advantageous in my creative process.
Kirnu Cream:
it has the most features of them but for me it's stressful, half-baked, buggy and unusable ...
EDIT:
I could compare Kirnu Cream with Korg Karma, too, but that would be unfair ...

Can you contact us kirnuarp at gmail dot com and give us full description of your problems. Which host,OS you are using. Project file would also be nice.clipnotic wrote:I love your post, especially because you are telling us something about a big moog modular but your username is "nexussynth" ...nexussynth wrote:well some people just like to fiddle with a minimoog. some prefer a moog modular. the mini is in no way a match for a big modular. i'm a modular guy.

No I can't because it's not my job! What are you thinking who I am? Your free paying beta tester??? Of course I could send you that informations but then we have to talk about a good salary before!? What would you pay me for my time and that private informations?Kirnu wrote:

Don't get me wrong I DON'T want bash you, really!
And I like that Kirnu Cream idea because it's a very good idea!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
But sorry, VST technology is available since many many years and for me that always the same game is over now:
The game:
- a new product arrives on our planet
- bugs and unfinished and reduced documentation
- customers have to spend time and time and time to help, to fix ...
- if the product will be finished after months / years, only the developer becomes rich??
And sorry but I'm a musician, I have to make music, I can't spend my time in developer forums again and again ... please understand me!
But because I like the idea of Kirnu Cream I'll give you some tips:
1. Go and buy modern DAWs
- Cubase
- Sonar
- FL Studio
- Ableton
- Reaper
- Studio One
...
2. Go and buy 2-3 different PC Systems and a Mac
- install all the DAWs there
- look what happens in different situations
- do a big testing
3. result
You will get a very good feeling how your product is working on different DAWs and different systems. And then your optimizing will be very fine and good!
And THEN, your customers will love you for the best arpeggiator VST on our world!
You can!

Wow, seriously? Arto isn't asking you to do a whole week of unpayed work. He's asking you to provide as much information as possible to help him fix your issues ASAP. That's what every good company will do.clipnotic wrote:No I can't because it's not my job! What are you thinking who I am? Your free paying beta tester??? It's your choice not to help, but don't complain if it takes much longer to fix bugs.

All I'm asking is the full description of the problem. This way we can reproduce the bug and see what's causing it.clipnotic wrote:

If we can't reproduce the bug we can't fix it.
Thanks,
