Help on a synth-sound (Rammstein)

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

I'll try that BONES.
I still think their guitar sound is probably the heaviest sound ever created. The guitar riffs sounded like KMFDM's, but the guitar tone was more like Ministry(like the palm-muting want to just punch through your chest and rip your heart out)...although I'm sure you could point out some better examples? I think their guitar sound tops every "nu-metal" band that came out when they did, and after.

Sehnsucht is one of my all-time fav. metal albums, even though I don't know have of what the hell their saying(although I gather the lyrics are somewhat simplistic?)It's their guitar sound(again with the damn guitars,Mike)and some of the catchiest metal riffs ever...again, many that sound like KMFDM...ironically, the new KMFDM guitar tone sounds more like rammstein than ever imo.

I never really got into Sehnsucht much, although I really like the title track. I think Mutter is their best album. Their guitar sound is absolutely amazing, especially live. KMFDM didn't soun dhalf as full-on as they did.

The first time I ever heard them was a live performance on mtv around '98, they did asha zu asha(I think I spelled it right), and I was amazed how good the guitars sounded. And how can you resist a lead singer on fire?

First, thanks for your help!
but here is another one i didn't get along with

I try to emulate this strange synth-sound in background, but have again no clue on how :)

I would be thankful for your help!

Sounds like a steep filter envelope with a lot of resonance. Almost lazer-shot like.

Amerika was the song that Americans thought was glorifying their country... :nutter:

. . .

Rammstein is alive and well, they've released many other songs after Amerika, but since the songs are in German they are not very likely to be played outside of Europe. Their conserts are incredible.

As an Amerikan (:hihi:) living in Germany it's interesting to hear what people think about the song "Amerika". It's a great piece of sarcasm - I love it!
"We're all living in Amerika" - because Amerika is everywhere! Their influence is felt everywhere - Micky Mouse, Wonder Bra, maybe a bit of war here and there.

Greetings from Germany - watching and waiting for your awakening, Steve

Still can't get into the newer rammstein though, thought their first 3 albums had the heaviest guitar tones ever produced still

RAMMSTEIN have a brand new album out. Its their worst to date but has one or two decent songs on it. Its called Rosenrot [Red Rose?].

As for that sound, You could do it with anything. Try using an LFO with a noise waveform and applying it to the osciallator pitch to get that tuned noise sound.
