One-Synth-Challenge 53: Feldspar - Voting and Results

Voted.

I have managed to listen to all the tracks this morning whilst cooking what I hope is going to be a nice meal for a party of 11 people:
- cooked pepper & tomato salad
- Lamb, prunes & almonds tajine
- honey & pistachio cakes in filo pastry.
My notes are covered in drips and drops with cumin & ginger flavours.
I was not able to comment as much as I would normally do on Soundcloud: in addition to some extra work, a succession of happy moments & tragedies took place over these last few weeks . I just hope now that NOTHING is going to happen in our family & community for a few months at least.

Its unfortunate that throughout our human existence we have to deal with tragedies and even knowing that we don't know when they are is frightening. I hope everything works out.

I liked a lot of tracks this OSC. No one was bad imo.


Regarding the voting system: I dont really like 1-5, its really hard to judge, and im not sure what different points really mean.. i felt kinda bad giving someone only 2p (didnt mean their track was bad, just that I though other tracks deserved more p). I wish there where some clear guidlines for what the points (1-5) where suppose to mean (is 1p = trash track, or could it still be ok? are we expected to give 1p to some.. etc). A suggestion, I think it would be easier kinda if it rather was something like 0-3-7-(12?) p and you could only give about half of the tracks points, and max ?3? 7p. etc. (or something like that) IDK though, there are many ways to do it, and I guess all of them has pros and cons

From what I've seen its pretty clear to me that most people give:

1 - To a track that they felt was not serious, perhaps hurt your ears, or is just so extremely bizar, with lack of sound design
2 - A track that just doesn't click with you but it is not bad, there is respect
3 - There is something about it that has redeeming qualities to it
4 - This one is close to a 5 but something is not quite there - perhaps the mixing is not finished, or the sound design is not special...etc
5 - Full spectrum - well mixed, good sound design, melodies, harmony, concept, and most importantly: You really like it

Most entries in the OSC are already like A,B,C grades

So instead of thinking 1/5 = 20% or FAILURE... think

1/5 = E to a C+
2 / 5 = B-
3 / 5 = B+
4 / 5 = A-
5 / 5 = A+ with Honors - and a sticker on the back of your mom's car saying "My kid got honors at KVRAudio One Synth Challenge"

As i was following all the votes, this seemed a F1 Race!
I was in the fifth place, then the fourth, i went up to second place in the last days.
Then i was tied with [???] and i noticed that i got more 5 points than [???] so i was in the first place during yesterday.

I counted votes 30 minutes ago.

And then, BOOOM, SonnyDeluxe appears from nowhere in the last minute, literally, so finally i got the second place. Impressive!!

Well, this shows that you can't know who will be the winner until the last minute.
Anyway, i prefer to be in the second place, as i never close votes and show results if i'm in the first place, that would be arrogant from my part, i think.

Expect the final scores in some minutes.
I'm counting the tied scores, hard task.

Thanks for all those who commented my track and thanks to anybody who gave me more than 1 point (will check the scoreboard later). Again sorry for the tracks I didn't have time to comment but you will can see it was a bit random, I gave 5 points sometimes without any comments and gave 2 points and a lot of comments sometimes

Was a great osc again (not so sure for the next one, xils is giving me a hard time ^^). Great comments and great spirit, definitely loving this contest ^^

The only thing I don't like is to have to rush to finish my track before 1st of the month and to have to rush to vote before 15 I hate deadlines... haha I'm so slow for everything, so thanks OSC for giving a rhythm to my life
