I'm not very happy with the pricing.

USA: $199.99 (= €152.30)
UK: £139.99 (= $211.36)
EU: €179.99

I can understand the different prices on hardware, but why EU and UK people have to pay more on a digital download?

Take off VAT and the prices are much closer.

Yeah, but VAT is different across Europe, not fixed.

You could always call Apple and see if they'll grant you some kind of grace period. I'm betting they won't, but 10 minutes on the phone wouldn't cost too much.
Good idea mate but i reckon £139+£139 is still a bit cheaper than Cubase 7 and a few other Daws so i'll bite the bullet. I'm just glad to see it's out after reading a lot about Pro X.
Think i'll just knuckle down and use this to forget about all the nightmares that was Cubase 7.0.5 :-(
Anyways will get it tonight for sure and i'm pretty excited about it too :-)

A while back I bought some software and within a few weeks they came out with an upgrade with no grace period. I was quite angry, especially when it turned out that the new version fixed a bunch of bugs that they hadn't fixed in the previous version. I found the CEO's extension via Google, called the company, and left him a voicemail.

He called me back, we chatted for a good half hour, and he even followed up with an E-Mail.

Yes, I got my upgrade for free. :D

At two months or more you might be out of luck but Apple has honoured grace periods because it doesn't normally do pre-announcements of launches. It's worth ringing customer support to see what they'll do.

Is the environment still there?

I couldn't find any info on that by reading the sources pointed in this thread, could anyone help me with that info please? If anyone allready has it, could this person try cmd+8 to see if anything happen? Pretty please!

$200. is the price of a synth these days... I just bought 9.0 in February, but I had been on 8 for years, so I could have held out a little longer. Not too worried about that as I need a lot of other stuff just to run it anyway. It will be a big initiative to do everything at once. Sigh...

Stephanie:
Hi, my name is Stephanie. It'll be just a moment while I review the comments you provided.

Stephanie:
Hi Rob, how are you?

Rob:
Hi Stephanie

Rob:
I purchased Logic Pro 9 only a couple of months ago after switching to a mac from winodows and paid £139.99 and now they bring Logic ProX and ask me for another £139.99? How is this?

Stephanie:
I am so sorry to hear that and I understand how frustrating that can be.

Stephanie:
May I please have your Apple ID?

Rob:
I took years to make a switch but i'm now dissolussioned here

Rob:
Apple id is donkeytugger70@?????

Rob:
I just bought a few things from the app store plus others online but this is terrible about another £139.99 for Pro X

Stephanie:
Thank you one moment please

Stephanie:
Unfortunately, Logic Pro X is newer than Logic Pro 9 and it would be two different orders.

Rob:
So there is no upgrade path or free update for people who just bought a mac?

Rob:
I didnt' even know Pro X was coming out till today

Stephanie:
I am looking into this now one moment please

Rob:
okay

Stephanie:
You should be able to download Logic Pro 9 again, but not Logic Pro X.

Stephanie:
Apps purchased on another Mac can be installed on other Macs by opening the Mac App Store on each destination Mac and signing in with the same Apple ID as you used to purchase the apps originally. Selecting the Purchases view at the top of the the Mac App Store window will display all apps which have been purchased with that account. Apps not yet installed on the current Mac will show an "Install" button next to the app name and description. Clicking the Install button will install the selected app on the current Mac without charging the account again. The apps installed in this manner will be placed on the current user's Dock and installed in the Applications folder.

Rob:
your avin a giraffe? ah never mind thanks that wasn't my point sure i can download 9 but i only came to a mac from windows a short time ago and find that i have to pay another £139 just to use Pro X.. thanks again

Stephanie:
I am so sorry about the inconvenience.

Stephanie:
You are very welcome! Thank you for contacting Apple iTunes Support. Is there anything else I can help you with regarding this issue today?

Rob:
Ok thank you

Stephanie:
Have a great day!

Stephanie:
When you are ready please click the "End Chat" button at the top left corner of the chat to close this window and have an email copy of this chat sent. There won''t be an "End Chat" Button if you are on an iPad iPhone or iPod, if so just let me know and I''ll end the chat from this end for us.

Except that it appears to only work on monophonic content. So no equivalent to Melodyne editor with polyphony.

Mostly underwhelmed, haven't been using Logic for ages anyways so won't upgrade. However I like that they merged the concepts of group tracks/folder tracks and instrument racks. You set keyranges and can play the whole group as a single instrument, and also save it as a patch. Logic has been missing this layering ability.
I always preferred Melodyne over Logic's Flex anyway because it produces much less artifacts when correcting timing issues, if it's the same with Flex pitch then...well...have to try it first but won't be upgrading for a while anyway.
Melodyne is a class on it's own with polyphonic note editing and the possibility to disconnect the harmonics of a sound from the root note and then mangle the harmonics around to produce something totally new.
