What's with Steve Horelick's delivery. Its like he's talking to a goochy goochy baby. I almost can't watch it. Good teacher no doubt but the way he talks makes me feel totally insane. Not his fault. Just saying. And curious if anyone else feels this way.
Totally agree . I have quite a few macprovideo tutorials and his style is quite hard work

Can anyone check if there is finally a possibility to select different MIDI inputs (different interfaces) for tracks? Not only MIDI channels but also inputs - like in Cubase, ages ago?

For instance - tracks 1-16 - MIDI CH1-16 from interface A, channels 17-32 - MIDI CH1-16 from interface B.

In Logic 9 - no chance (even in environment). In cubase - just another drop down directly in the main inspector.

I believe that was always possible with Logic... I've used it many times, different MIDI input ports (AMT8 connected to Logic). Different interfaces were also not an issue.

we're probably talking about different things, i'm pretty sure it is not possible with the 9. no place where i could select different midi inputs for tracks, just midi channels 1-16. environment, yes, but midi events from different devices were still routed to just the 16 midi tracks.

so keyboard A set to channel 1 and connected via interface X triggers the same (sounds) tracks as keyboard B set to the same MIDI channel 1 and connected via interface Y.

in most cases not a big problem, it was always problematic when layering sounds of multiple tracks or many midi devices.

maybe stack tracks are solution to that, but it would be nice to have a chance to simply select a MIDI INPUT alongside with a MIDI channel...

if i am wrong just tell me how to do this, the support didn't help...

This hasn't changed in Logic X - the same "Auto demix by channel" option is present in project preferences. It's a disappointing omission, but not unexpected.

Peace,
Andy.

i just hope the stack tracks do the thing...
all in all it doesn't look to me like a new piece of code... :|

Actually there is a very small chance that multi-interface MIDI will be possible in Logic X, but it's going to take some time to figure out. The MIDI FX plugins include "Scripter".

If this allows access to MIDI device information as well as channel, it might be possible to write a script that only allows notes from a specific device and channel through to the instrument on the track.

Need to find out what objects / methods / properties are available.

Neat module though, will be interesting to see what it can do!

Peace,
Andy.

Do the new interface elements have retina resolution support?

i see that none of the older plugins have gotten a bit of updating. Looks like this is still in maintenance mode (as in, maintaining sales and minor annoyance removal). i've come quite far in getting into Logic, but i still find EXS24 and ES2 to be both ugly and difficult to work with. The instrument editor in EXS24 is particularly annoying and buggy.

How about the first note bug?

I don't get the complaints about upgrade price for Logic 9 users. The full price of Logic X is less than the upgrade price of a lot of other DAWS. And to be honest it's well established now that the App Store has no upgrade pricing policy, you should have done your research prior to purchase. Feature wise this is a really large update and well worth the price.

Quick questions...

Is the plugin menu still the same? Still sorted by developer, and no way to organize them without hacking the info in the resource files?

Also, can you arrange channels in the mixer view?

Does it include all the legacy content?

Wow, not happy about the first two answers. I'm really hoping that someone creates a 32 bit AU bridge so I can still use Nexus v1 because I still won't be updating to v2. If anything I'll just stay with Snow Leopard and Logic 9 for quite a while.

How is it possible we still cannot arrange channels in the mix window?
